Just got off the phone with MS, and was told that I wouldn't be able to get a full-size crib for our trip in December? Can anyone confirm this? I thought many of the resorts (OKW being one of them) had the full sized cribs available to use?

My son has sleep apnea, and we will need a full-size crib in order for our breathing monitor to work.

Maybe the Disney cribs were part of one of the many recalls lately, and they just aren't replacing them?

Just curious if anyone else heard anything about this?

I just spoke to MS yesterday adding a couple days on to our trip in Sept-Oct. I asked the guy if he could check our other reservation to make sure the crib and bedrails I requested were definitely on the reservation. He looked and saw them both there. He did not mention anything about not having full size cribs anymore. I REALLY hope they do cause our 2 year old will be sleeping with mommy and daddy if not lol.

i didn't know that cribs were even offered. we stayed at POFQ in january and when i called about a crib i was told they only offered pack-n-plays.

so, i just called MS and asked about the cribs. the woman i spoke with said she would put the crib request on our reservations for our upcoming trips.

i hope that we do get the crib! i didn't even think it was an option. we were just away this weekend and DS (age 10 months) slept in a pack-n-play and he SCREAMED! ugh. so my fingers are crossed for all of us that we get the crib!

Okay, I'm no help because we don't have kids yet, BUT (here's where I try to help) I've heard of others using an outside rental company for a full-size crib. Obviously you'd have to pay money for it, but it might be worth the expense to know for sure that you have what you need. Of course I have no idea what the name of the company was, but I know it exists. :rotfl:

Disney has full metal cribs at OKW and non DVC resorts. The current policy is Pack & Plays at other DVC resorts.

If you are at a co-located resort, cash and DVC, you can sometimes get a full crib even if you are staying on the DVC side of the resort.

We recently stayed at the Polynesian and when our neighbors checked out there was a crib in the hallway. It was not as large as a full size crib but the sleep area was maybe a little bigger than a pack and play. It was a smaller version of a normal crib, not a pack n play. Unfortunately being in a crib did not keep that particularly infant from crying in the middle of the night, every night, all week.

do you know where i can find their exact policy? the MS lady i spoke to just a little while ago said that cribs were definitely available (we are staying at BWV in sept, SSR in dec, THV in jan)

thanks!

Probably where the rest of the policies are - nowhere. But if you really want a full sized crib, the best way is to rent from an outside company.

They are just a request, not guaranteed. The only way to guarantee a full sized crib is to rent one from an outside company like Baby's Best Friend.

We will be at AKL in 30 days, and I called Member Services on Sunday to double check my crib request. I was told they are not guaranteed, and that they are in the process of phasing out the cribs. Hopefully they're not phased out by next month, otherwise the baby isn't going to be a happy camper in a pack n play.

When we checked in at BCV last December we were offered a crib for our daughter.(was 20 month) We didn't use the crib... the Pack & Play in the Villa worked fine.

We just got one a few weeks ago at BWV. I think that they may be at the DVCs that are attached to hotels. We also saw one at Kidani in Jan.

I have seen the larger metal cribs at a number of resorts, DVC and not. However, the best thing to keep in mind is that there are obviously only a limited number of them at any resort that even has them at all. That is why it is not guaranteed. If they have 10 at a resort, and 10 people before you have requested them, you won't get one.

If you have to have a larger crib that is not a Pack and Play like the OP, you really need to rent one from one of the Orlando companies that do that and deliver them. That is the only way to guarantee that you will have one.

:)We are arriving Sat. at BCVs and have rented a full size crib for our 15 mo. old grandson. We rented from abbf.com (A Baby's Best Friend). Did not want to take the chance that we could not get a full size crib.

Yep, it doesn't make any difference if you NEED a crib if they have them, but they are all being used by someone else. Their system is not set up to reserve or hold cribs. But A Baby's Best Friend DOES have a system that reserves cribs and will get you one.

If you'd rather have a crib, but can make do with a pack and play - request a crib from Disney. If you need a crib or otherwise you are going to have a miserable vacation, rent one.

A friend of mine got a full size crib at OKW last week, and after her experience, you may rethink using the OKW cribs (if they still have them in December). On the second or third night, her grandson woke up crying-his leg had gotten stuck between the slats! After prying his sore leg out, they called and had the crib removed. After that, they used the pack and play, and fortunately he was fine with it.

OP - if you need to have a full-sized crib, I highly recommend renting from A Baby's Best Friend. We used them in Nov and the crib was truly a full-sized crib. The cribs at Disney are portable metal cribs which are slightly larger than a pack 'n play, but smaller than the full-sized crib you would have at home. We used the metal Disney crib at SSR when DD was 8.5 months old. We took the extra flat sheet for the pullout sofa and wrapped it through the bars to create a bumper. It worked just fine for her then, but at 21 months old, she was far too big for that size crib so we decided to rent one from ABBF.

In Nov 2009 I rented a full size crib from ABBF and it was great. In January 2010 we stayed at BWV and I called housekeeping and they brought one right away. My son is way too big for a pack and play.

For our trip in August I am going to rent a toddler bed from ABBF since all the beds are taken for this trip since we have friends coming and he has graduated to a twin bed. He will be 2.9 years then.

I had great service from ABBF and highly recommend them
