No More EMH Wristbands

They have always had 2 CMs at the front of the line swiping cards with a handheld scanner. If the card is valid, they direct you through the line to where 2 or 3 other CMs are putting bracelets on people. If your card is invalid, they direct you out of the line. Possibly they were checking visually the night you went because of a problem with their scanner? We do every EMH on our vacations, and have always had our card swiped in order to get a wristband.

I doubt thats it cuz we went to several EMH's at night and we never had our cards scanned. If we went to just 1 EMH at night then I can say maybe thats the reason. But we were there for 2 weeks and we went to EMH at night like every other night. We did EMH at night for DHS, MK and Epcot and not once were our cards scanned except to get into the park. This was also very recent. We were there from Aug 5th - 17th, so maybe they used to scan the tickets, but during the 2 weeks we were there, no scanner was involved.

From what people mentioned, they were doing a test run with out using the scanners and having people just use their id cards to get on the rides. My guess is since they decided to make a permanent change to this procedure those swipers are hiding in storage somewhere. Perhaps you were there during a period where they were trying to phase out the scanners? Maybe they figured why bring the swipers back if we are going to make this a permanent change. Anyway that is my guess, but I have no idea when the test run was so I could be way off base.
