News is circulating about Disney removing Evening EMH wristbands beginning Sept 7th. Guests will need to show their applicable resort ID to gain admittance to attractions during EMH. I wonder how well the resort ID policy will be enforced at the shopping and dining locations in the parks?

It should be interesting to see how well this new policy works.

I just saw that and wondered the exact same thing. I don't see how they will be able to enforce this at all. Will they do random checks on people wandering around the parks? I'm wondering ...

1. Are they just too cheap to do the wristbands and schedule the necessary CM's to handle the wristbands and/or security?

OR

2. Are they going to do away with EMH evenings altogether? EMH mornings are easy to handle - you just check people as they enter. But EMH evenings will be the problem.

I hate to say it because I'm sure that people will be thinking that I'm spreading a rumor ... but seriously, I know nothing about this. I'm just wondering.

Also, if they won't be checking, anyone can take advantage of this. So this might just be another case of us "on-sit"ers losing another benefit :sad2:

Not sure I'm liking this new change. We keep our resort cards and APs in DH's wallet or in the backpack and I really don't want to have to dig it out everytime we want to go on an attraction. Is this a way for WDW to try to get everyone to buy id/card holding lanyards? I'm also wondering how they plan on enforcing this since they haven't been so good at enforcing the relatively easy to see wristbands during evening EMHs or during hard ticket events lately. :confused3

I would rather have the wristbands. I put my card away and it will be a pain to pull out each time. I don't like wearing lanyards either.

this sounds terrible to me.
who wants to walk around with their resort key in their hand - that's horrifyingly inconvenient....
lots of people are going to end up losing them...

This makes me wonder if Disney is experiencing tougher economic times than they are letting on.

I was thinking they should stick with the wristbands but 2 weeks ago they were not enforcing the wristbands anyway. There was a group ahead of me in line and the CM stopped them because they did not have a wristband. She explained the EMH and they seemed like they did not care and said it was their last ride. Later in the evening I saw the same group again. I think they should stick with the wristbands, it makes it easier then pulling out the cards all the time.

i hope they are keeping the wristbands... that's just asking for key cards to get lost, having to pull them out all the time... plus, it will slow things up at rides if they actually STOP and look at the dates on the key cards... every single time you go on a ride... it takes a little while to show your key and get a wristband, but you only have to do that once... :confused3 plus, does that mean if you are not a resort guest, you can still stick around for fireworkd, etc. ???

I just read this on the main page.

Not happy about having to keep the key out, there are more chances for me to lose. We will see how things go in October.

I hope they don't do away with EMH in the evening. I love those!

I'm betting that WDW is pretty lax on the enforcement of this. I can imagine that it could be a sticky situation trying to enforce it AND have good customer service. So maybe they have thrown up their hands?

If they are throwing up their hands than they need to stop marketing EMH as a perk for on-site guests, do away with them and just extend the park hours to everyone. Of course that is something that I really hope they don't do and really wish that they'd just enforce the wristbands/rules that they have now.

I'm pretty sure that's what they did at DLRP, they only have mornings now :(

This sucks! We never go to early EMH. We like to sleep in and stay out late. Not to mention, I will loose my card in about 2 seconds. Boo....

I suspect that everyone will be able to stay in the parks and allowed to dine and shop but only those who want to get on the rides will need to show their resort ID.

Isn't that what the original concept of EMH was, anyway? To reduce the crowds so that you don't have to wait so long to get on the rides. Does it matter if there are people in the parks just shopping, dining or people watching that aren't staying on property?

No and Yes :lmao:

I would say it was to reduce the crowds in the PARK, not just on the rides. I am not happy about this, but will wait to see how it goes next month.

Ick - I'm not an early riser.

We didn't even use them last time we were at DLRP in May.
Tho it's not as bad there as it's a five/ten minute walk from your resort hotel to the parks, so it does work there, but i could see it being more hassle at WDW

Another thought ...

MK is probably the only park where EMH evening is a real factor. And since many nights at MK is occupied by a party of some sort since P&P seems to be almost year-round these days (I hate this by the way), then there really isn't much point in having EMH evenings, is there?

Epcot WS is already open until 9:30 (or whenever people get done with dinner). DHS is basically a wasteland in the evenings, and AK isn't even open most evenings ... until the Night Kingdom (or whatever such crap) opens. So honestly, what IS the point of having EMH evenings. It's barely in effect as it is, right?

To take advantage of Universal's FOTL access for resort guests you have to show your room key at every ride. IT was annoying but we got used to it.

I do realize this is totally different as the FOTL access doesn't let you in the US parks extended hours. Just trying to say they expect you to show your room key on all the rides with FOTL access.
