No more Dreams Unlimited gift basket????

That stinks that DCL will not allow deliveries.
But DU how long did it take you come with idea of mailing them.

we cruise on Feb 6 and got our DU gift basket on our front porch this past Monday Jan 26 th. Big surprise .
I was wondering why they sent them to the house and not the ship.
Come on Disney.

We always knew we could mail our gift bags to our clients. We were trying to work on a solution with DCL to have them delivered to the cruise ships even after they informed Shirley she couldn't make deliveries any more. We kept hearing 'we're trying to find a solution' from Disney management. We eventually decided we could not wait any longer so we opted for plan 'B' which is mailing them.

The first sailing out of Port Canaveral where we mailed our gift bags to our clients was the 1/12/2015 Disney Dream sailing.

We would still very much like to have them delivered to the ship and waiting for our clients in their staterooms when they arrive; so we continue to pursue that option with DCL.

just sounds like it was a big gap that many customers were disappionted
just strange disney would bar those deleveries
what reason did they give

Maybe I missed the reason...but if mailing, why not to all customers, not just those out of Port Canaveral?:confused3

We sailed Jan 3 and presumed that we would not have the baskets, having seen Shirley's notice on these boards. We enjoyed our baskets 2 years ago and did miss them this time - they are filled with fun and useful items and it is so festive seeing them when entering the cabin. We also knew last year that we would not have the baskets out of Miami- it is not simple to arrange basket creation and delivery and most ports do not have someone comparable to Shirley. Now even PC is among them by DCL decree. The baskets are nice gifts and I am happy that we received them in the past. However, no one should feel entitled to a gift and no giver has an obligation to provide one. We were in Cocoa Beach the week before cruising and planned to stop by and say "HI." However, the beach weather was just too good.

Very well said.....and I agree with you!!!
I will miss the baskets because they were a nice gift with useful gadgets, but I cruised BEFORE they had them and will cruise without them. I was thankful for the basket, but nobody should ever think DU "owes" them a basket. Most agencies do not do anything. Just be thankful you are on a cruise and quit worrying about "free" things.

We booked and they mailed the baskets to us for our 2/7 cruise. I was wondering why the mailed them too us but thought maybe it was because we booked GYT and didn't have room numbers assigned until very recently. Now I understand why. I agree it is fun to have them when you come into your room so its a bummer rules were changed. But I'm still super excited for the baskets. It is the perfect stuff for the cruise!!!

we received our baskets in the mail this week. My kids were so enthralled! The highlighter was definitely a hit! DD4 loved the "writing board" and ran to tell me about ten minutes are playing with it, "MOM! It's not just a writing board...It's a MAGNET writing board!!"

My fave? The reuseable bag! Always need more for the grocery store!

Such a fantastic treat!

Are the baskets still being mailed or has an onboard delivery remedy been found?

Poor DU. I don't think there is any way to make people happy. Why have some people turned a nice little gift into an entitlement?

We received the basket once and it was nice. We didn't receive one in Alaska and that was quite fine. This year we didn't receive a basket because DU hadn't started mailing to Canada yet. To be honest, I don't know what I would have done if a basket had been mailed to our house -- my suitcases were already full enough.

DCL changed its policy. DU has tried to find a solution even though they could simply discontinue these gifts entirely. What more do people want?

Yes, I am curious where this stands. We booked through DU and are sailing out of PC in May. It's not that I feel entitled, it's that I saw it as a nice perk and since people have repeatedly claimed that certain items are in the baskets I was not going to purchase those small items in advance. Just want to know if I should...

yes they are! We just received ours. Three weeks until our cruise thanks DU!!

I agree that the gift basket is nice but we shouldn't feel entitled. We've sailed DCL 9 times - 7 of those booked through DU, with 2 more upcoming in May and July. Only once had we received the gift basket because we like to sail the special itineraries that doesn't leave out of PC. But the one time we got the basket, we really enjoyed and appreciated it.

I have a suggestion though - Instead of mailing the baskets to the people's homes (which requires to pack and bring it to the ship), why not give a small stateroom gift through DCL (if they stop allowing deliveries)? A 6-pack of bottle water would be so wonderful and probably cheaper than the gift baskets, mailing and staff time. And it can be gifted to everyone regardless of departure port...

Yes - all clients with a U.S. mailing address sailing out of Port Canaveral will be mailed a gift bag.

Clients with a Canadian address sailing out of Port Canaveral will be mailed a gift bag beginning with sailings departing 4/1/2015 and later.

I appreciate your suggestion.

We feel our gift bags reflect items that our clients will find useful while on their cruise. A great deal of thought, time and energy went into developing our gift bags and I feel they have more meaning than a 6-pack of water.

This is our first cruise and first gift bag from you. Thank you so much. It is better then a 6 pack of water! We will definitely use the items.

I don't know the cost to DU but if shipping is running around $10 to send these and the basket and gifts are running another $10+, maybe asking Disney to offer $25 gift baskets to TAs to be delivered to the room by Disney. Of course that may not be enough of a profit to be worth DCLs time. But an idea. Or if Disney offers in room $25 gifts, the TAs could purchase them for their customer's as gifts. It is a shame that this change was made. I am sure it is a sign of the times (security, security policy costs, liabilities?) that caused this change. Getting the baskets at home are nice but not nearly the experience like when seeing it for the first time in your stateroom.

DU, you are giving me another $200 on board credit on our next cruise. Thank you. I wouldn't be disappointed if instead it was $150 or $175 and getting a nice surprise in my room when I first arrive.

I received my today! Lots of great items that I know we will use. Thanks DU and especially Krystin T, you have been amazing and we will definitely use you again for our next one (yes we are already looking at booking one for next April :P)
