No more Disneyworld vacation planning DVDs

Not surprising. We don't even have a DVD player any more. My MIL got a planning DVD and brought it over to watch and we had to drag down my son's PS4 and hook to the TV to watch it.

Everything is online now I guess.

I remember watching a Disney planning VHS over and over again when I was a little girl. That said, we still own a DVD player, but it's not hooked up to the TV (I just can't decide if I'm ready to part with it). Our computers also do not have disc slots. If we want to watch something we do so through our Apple TV.

I can't say I blame them for wanting to save some money and just make it available online.

Is that one that featured Erin and Dave? I can't recall the name of the other 2 people featured.

Yep. And Luke and Stacey (not that Stacey). Just looked it up. :)

I still have that particular planning video and one for every year after. Glad I kept them...we like to watch them every now and then.

Ah, I only watch the '05 one. I don't care that almost every bit of it is outdated; it prepares us for a trip like nothing else. DH just said "hey, maybe we can plan another disney trip for 2018" last night, so I think maybe I'll pull it out again. We have a DVD player and a PS3 and 4 all hooked up in our living room, so we're ready to go. :) I've been to Orlando twice without them (just one WDW park day though), then we stayed on property in December pre and post cruise, but they haven't stepped foot into WDW since January 2015. They just got tired of it. And I got tired of going with people who were tired of it.

I'm surprised they continued for as long as they did. For once, I think this is a smart and reasonable move on Disney's part.

I certainly hope I can still get it on laserdisc :)
Once had a friend ask me if I had to "rewind" the laserdisc after playing it. (He has a masters degree too!)

I'm a little surprised Disney doesn't offer custom touring "stream" videos. It would go along with their photopass service and you could just type in your name, what you were interested in and a program could come up with a custom touring video made just for you. They could even offer the service for $10 and make a small profit on it!

I get it, but I feel like Disney isn't holding themselves to standard with their marketing materials. I watched the online Disneyland videos yesterday, and they're like "This year, we're celebrating our diamond anniversary! 60 years of magic..." and they show a fireworks show and an electrical parade that aren't playing anymore.

:snooty:

That would be excellent since I have my Pioneer. Sidenote: original digital release of Star Wars. People scoff at the LDs but they don't have that. :)

I just can't stand streaming stuff. I don't see how it's better. Buffering is rotten.

I was bummed when I found this out. I always got one with each vacation. I didn't need it but to me it was just something I liked to order with each new vacation.

Google for "Harmy's Star Wars Trilogy Despecialized Edition." You'll thank me later.
