no more appetizers with table service?

So let me ask another related question. We are going to have a party of 10. Do we all have to be on the same DP? What I'm asking is will they permit 2 or 3 members of our party be on the DXDP and the rest on the regular DP? We certainly won't need 10 appetizers at TS restaraunts and 20 snacks a day would be too many snacks. I was considering seeing if they'd let us buy DXDP for 3 of the adults and have the other 4 adults and the 3 kids on the regular DDP.
As long as you are in different rooms on different reservations, I can't see any reason why you couldn't be on different dining plans. People on the same package/room/ressie need to have the same dining plan, though. Given your party size, I'd imagine you have a number of rooms (unless you're staying in a villa) so your idea sounds plausible.

We're DVC so we have two rooms, 8 in a two bedroom villa and 2 in a studio (my parents). I'll have to figure this out and see if it would be worth it or if we should go ahead and just plan on buying a few appetizers at TS meals.

Can people on the deluxe plan use it to pay for cat. 1 seating at HDDR at all the shows or is it the same policy for DXDP as it is for the standard DDP?

I think if you all want to sit together at HDDR you have to do category 2 or 3 unless you choose the 9:30 show.

I have never heard that DXDDP can book Category 1. All I know is that DDP guests can book category 1 for the 9:30 show.

If you are all staying together on one reservation you all have to get the same dining plan. Since you have two reservations you can have different types of dining plans. But the persons on deluxe can't use their deluxe credits to buy meals for the other members of the party.

So what does that mean for appetizer for kids? Can get an appetizer in addition to their meal or as their meal? Then do they get dessert too? Just wondering because I have a 9 yr old who has a big appetite and the kids meal will not be enough for him but he he got an appetizer too that would be plenty. Also, do the kids choose appetizer off the regular appetizer menu or some kid appetizer menu? Thanks

If you have the reg. DDP children get to choose an appy from the "kids" appy menu. Which is usually just carrot or apple slices or something very simple like that. They don't actually get a "real" appetizer.
Since your child is 9 and a big eater, have you considered upgrading him to adult status? It isn't really much more. I don't exactly know, but it could be worth it.

It is actually significantly much more unless you get free dining. If you upgrade the age you have to upgrade to adult ticket prices as well. The difference can be much more than it would be to just get the kids DDP and then add a full sized app. out of pocket. The child price is $11.99 and the adult is $45.99 per day and the difference in theme park admission is only about $25. So $25 plus the $34 per day. Pretty sure you could add a bit more food for less than that OOP.

Yep, kids appetizers are for kids. They are generally carrots with ranch or a CUP of chicken noodle soup. The kids deserts are also for kids and not part of the regular desert list. They are usually worms in dirt or build a sundae (which is one scoop with some toppings). Kids don't get to choose the better deserts from the adult list.

Can I get a side of pickles instead of desert? Would is matter if they are sweet pickles instead of dill?
