I just read a post in another thread that said Pop guests were "excluded" from monorail transportation. Is this true??? We always ride the monorail, even if we're not in a monorail hotel - just for fun. We were planning to take the kids on the monorail to get a glimpse of the parks after our first night's Chef Mickey reservations. :sad1: Why are we not allowed??

Suddenly feeling like a second class citizen... maybe we should have done the FW cabins again....

Monorail transportation is permitted for all on-site Disney World Resort guests. We've stayed at POP Century several times & frequently ride the monorail!! :teeth:

Maybe what you read is simply stating that the monorails don't go to the POP Century? Not sure where you read this - but, I'd definitely take the kids for a ride on the monorail!! Hope this helps!! Enjoy your trip :teeth: :thumbsup2

You're not excluded from taking the monorail but if you take the most direct form of transportation to the parks you won't be taking the monorail. The buses to the MK bypass the TTC and take you directly to the MK gates.

If you want to ride the monorail take your resort bus to EPCOT and then take the monorail to the MK, changing monorails at the TTC.

When I stayed at AKL for 2 nights, that's exactly what I did. I took a bus to Epcot and rode the monorail to the TTC. My boys loved AKL but missed riding the monorail and that's how they got their fix until we checked into the Poly later in the week. It beat taking a bus all the way to MK and we sat up front all the way to the TTC. What a view we had! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I knew we'd be taking the buses to the parks - I'm talking about riding the monorail just for fun! :) I was just worried cause I saw a post that said:

"Pop Century and All Star are both great hotels! They are cheap and very nice at the same time. The only thing is that you would have to rent a car because you are "excluded" from the boats and monorail transportation. You could also take a bus to the parks. "

I'm bringing my own car and would use the buses, but I didn't want to be "excluded" from the monorail!

Thanks again!!

Jenny - sorry you had to read a post like that. As others have said, it's completely untrue, and the monorail, and ALL Disney transportation (boats and buses as well), is available for Disney guests, whether they're staying onsite or offsite.

If Disney started some sort of heirarchical use of their transportation system, I'm afraid that would be most unDisney-like. :furious:

Whoever posted that the values were "excluded"from using the monorail was mistaken.
My last 5 stays has been at a value and we rode the monorail quite often.
Have fun at Disney!

In my email conformation it says that I have use of all Disney transportation, including monorail, water launches and motorcoaches.

Maybe they just meant that Pop doesn't have monorail or boat transportation to any of the parks, so you have to rely on busses for transportation to the parks.

That's the way I read it too. It just meant that there is no direct monorail or boat transportation from the values. That is the way Disney encourages people to upgrade their accomodations, by offering more amenities as you pay more.

One time I was on the MK monorail platform and an older couple was arguing with the cm that the monorail used to go to All Stars!

You may use it while going to the All Star resorts. Take the monorail from MK to TTC. Change to the monorail from TTC to Epcot. Walk to the bus platform and take the bus to the All Stars. Can be very enjoyable, but is far from quickest.
