No MM, how do photos work?

We have always bought photpass, or photpass+ in the past, but we will only be in WDW for 36 hours this trip. So there is no point in buying MM, but I may want a photo or two. How does that work with MBs? Do you scan your MB as though it was the old photo pass card? What about ride photos? Do you still only get them if you have MM or purchase them right after riding? I read that space pics were showing up in MDE without scanning anything, so I am very confused.

I was wondering this, too. We've never felt we've gotten our money's worth out of photopass, but I do want to look at ride photos and maybe get a castle pic as well and just pay individually.

I had MM on our trip, but DH had a few pics scanned to his band before I had his account linked properly to mine, and they just showed up in his photo pass account. He could have ordered them from there.

DH had never set up a PP account specifically. He just logged into the PP site with his usual Disney username and the pictures were there.

No, they still have cards. Although people staying off property can now buy magic bands, I don't think it would be fair to tell people that if they're staying off property and want to use PP that they have to buy magic bands.

Thanks. I am staying onsite and will have a magic band, do I need to get a PP card or will they just be able to use my band? When I look at the Disney website it says to get a card, but from some posts here it sounds like it may not be necessary.

A MagicBand essentially is a PhotoPass card you wear on your wrist.
