Been suffering PMS 24/7 lately. I know its just the season and I do not want to go the anti depressant route (been there done that). Does anyone have a vitamin concoction that works???? I want to feel better and not be so irritable.

Are you getting enough calcium? Try drinking more milk and eating yogurt. There was a study that linked adequate calcium with a lessening of PMS symptons.

Also, exercise helps me a lot!

Good luck.

The only calcium I get is from my latte! :surfweb: I'm afraid to take calcium because I get calcium oxalate kidney stones. :confused3

24/7 would mean your just in a funky mood right, not actual PMS because that's only a short window of hormonal trouble.

Have you tried to get more natural sunlight, sit in front of a window or increased your Vitamin D intake? The days just got drastically shorter and that can really mess with some people's bodies, add to that the stresses of the holidays and it's a recipe for unhappy.

Another thing to consider is that anti-depressants are very tricky, just because one doesn't work for you doesn't mean none of them will work for you. It can take years to find the perfect balance for a person. Personally I think these meds are better off in the hands of Psychiatrists than General Practitioners, my Grandma was on them back when they were ONLY handled by Specialists and i remember how serious the whole arrangement was taken back then. If you need help get a Psychiatrist to diagnose you and help you. I am a huge advocate of Specialists, sometimes the problem isn't the question the problem is figuring out who to go to for the answers.

I hope you feel better:grouphug:

I agree with the calcium helping a ton. I take 1-2000mg a day. I would recommend 5-HTP. You can pick this stuff at Walmart pretty cheap. However it shouldn't be taken long term. It helped me through some very stressful times and helped calm me down. I currently take a supplement called Paraplex that I get through my chiropractor and they also sell it on Amazon. It helps with PMS and my thyroid. Here is a page that reviews the HTP: http://www.revolutionhealth.com/dru...5-hydroxytryptophan-for-premenstrual-syndrome

Good luck and hope something helps you. I know how horrible it can be.

Just gonna throw this out there. I was having the same issue and it turned out my progesterone levels were WAY low. I've been on progesterone now for two months, and I feel like myself again. I'm not dragging, crabby, miserable at all. I get tested again in about a week, but I know it's better. Good luck!

24/7 mood swings isn't PMS. It sounds like you have a hormone level imblance or other glandular problem. Time to visit a good endocrinologist.

I went through a bad bout of this about ten years ago. What worked for me was magnesium. I took a calcium, magnesium, and zinc combo and it worked like a charm. I tried the primrose oil and it didn't work for me. Lots of different things can cause these same symptoms, so you might just have to try a few.

I will have to try this........feel bad that I have zero patience with my kids.
