No magicbands in Disneyland??

I used the staff support through the disney app to ask how to link gift cards to the magic band(if i could do it), and was told by a disney staff that Disneyland doesnt use magic bands. Have I been this out to lunch to have misunderstood this?

We are buying gift cards here in Canada for our trip to DCA, and wasnt sure HOW to best utilize them once down there...I've read all the posts i could find on this, but feel like i'm still struggling with this.

Just use the gift cards like a credit card in the stores

Disneyland does not use the Magic bands. You can use the gift cards in the stores and restaurants. I have used them when using mobile ordering but you can't save the gift card in the mobile ordering app. You need to type in the information each time.

We used tons of gift cards on our trip. Before we left I put all of them into just 2 cards on the Disney gift card site. That was easier than having to juggle 20 cards.
We didn't have any problem using them anywhere. BUT..I never figured out how to use them when mobile ordering.

I'm pretty sure I heard that Magic bands WILL be at Disneyland at some point, but I forget exactly when.

FYI, even at WDW you can't link gift card to a magic band. Paying via magic band charges back to the room (so you also have to be staying on-site). Then you would pay off the balance at front desk via gift card. Or you just pay directly with a gift card.

I hope you can just use your phone instead of a magic band. I don’t want to buy something else, I don’t want to wear something on my wrist, I already need to use/have my phone on me….

I thought that was the case. I have been to Disney World numerous times and I have a credit card for my magic band but never a gift card. I thought maybe I had missed something

You can. I use my phone for everything at Disneyland. I always bring a credit card, just in case the app or my Google pay glitches, but the phone can do everything at this point. I often use gift cards for mobile orders and self checkout in the merchandise shops -->(my absolute favorite thing ever).

When you get to the payment screen when mobile ordering, you just put the gift card information in. It won't save it though, so you have to add it every time you do mobile order.

Write the gift card number down on a note pad on the phone, copy and paste each time.
