I was speaking to the Virgin Hols call centre in India? yesterday and the lady there told me that I can no longer get my discount as the Frequent Virgin Club has been disbanded. :furious:

Is this true? Have I been Unvirgined without anyone letting me know? :furious:

I'm not sure if it has ended or not, but I've never seen the appeal anyway.

Everyone and anyone can get the "exclusive" 10% FVC discount by signing up to the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club (for free).

We have booked our holiday for 2007 with virgin but when the invoice turned up last week it did not have the FVC discount on it (only the online discount). My dh rang to ask about the discount and we were told that it would be added immediately and a new invoice sent. Will let you know if and when we get it.

Virgin have 'done wway' with FVC, it says something better will be coming shortly!
BUT it states this does not effect people who are already FVC members, they should still get their discounts/perks

There is some information anout this in a previous thread - it is closed to new members not to existing ones. Have a read here

I'd be back on the phone to that Indian call centre if I were you. It's amazing how speaking to someone different gets a different response.

I, too, understood that the 'club' was closed to new members but that existing members would still qualify for the discount :thumbsup2

I've just been on the Virgin Atlantic site to join the flying club as we're planning on flying with them next year. Couldn't see any reference to 10% discount, can someone point me in the right direction?

It's 10% off of Virgin Holidays - not flight-only bookings through VA.

Also you can get the FC discount online.. Just put the number in when making your VH booking :thumbsup2

Ahh ok, we won't be booking a holiday, just flights so it's pointless for us. :)

You could book just a fly-drive through Virgin Holidays and use the 10% discount. It might work out cheaper than flights only directly through VA.

Its worth joining anyway, as you will be able to collect miles towards free or subsidised flights/upgrades to next class etc..

Especially if you keep going to Fla.

Hi

We have booked a holiday to NY. I did not use any frequent flyer dscounts, as apparently even though they are the same company they are two seperate tour companies :confused3 I am probably confusing you, but I was told Frequent flyer club can only be used for flights only via virgin atlantic and frequent virgins can only be used for virgin holidays. We were told that we can still collect our flight points for frequent flyer when we check in at Heathrow.

The discounts will not effect anyone who is already a frequent virgin.

One of the bonuses of joining the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club is that you can gain a 10% discount off of Virgin Holidays. However, you are right in saying that you cannot use (as far as I am aware) your Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles towards flights which have been booked through Virgin Holidays. However, you can still earn flying club miles if your flights have been booked through Virgin Holidays. Confusing, I know!

Collecting points wouldn't be worth it as we never use Virgin to go to Florida normally, we stick with TCD. Florida is the only foreign destination we fly to really (next year being a very rare exception) so we'd never need the points on another flight.

We can't get a flydrive next year as we're flying into Las Vegas and out of Orlando so we have to book flights only. We'll only be using a car for one day for the drive from Vegas to Anaheim so it would be pointless anyway. Thanks though.

Its one of those misconceptions.
Virgin Atlantic and Virgin holidays (and the rest of the Virgin branded ranges) are basically franchises of the Virgin brand name. Sure SRB has a finger in each one, but essentially they are all seperate companies. Which is why you cannot use your FC miles for VH or Virgin Mobiles etc.. The Virgin FC credit card is slightly different, but thats morte to do with a marketing tie up than enything else
