Just arrived in Orlando today and headed to AK. I'd been reading that the after-Thanksgiving crowds have been much larger this year, but AK today was incredible. We arrived at 1pm and walked directly on to Dinosaur, ITTBAB, Kilimanjaro Safaris and EE. The standby lines were even shorter than the FastPass lines! Caught Lion King and Nemo and were out by 5, after making our way through some of the trails as well. Just wanted to post some encouraging news for those of you worried about crowds this time of year! ;)

Lucky you weren't there earlier in the day !! :))

Standby for KS was 75 mins !!

No way! Oh my, maybe the trick is getting there later then? Haha, could have just gotten lucky. ;) I should probably lower my expectations for the other parks this trip... :)

I all ways go to the park expecting long lines even when I know it is slow then when the line are short I think oh wow the lines are so short but if you go in thinking the lines will be short and they turn out to be long then that puts a damper on my day.

Before nighttime entertainment gets underway at AK, do you all think that getting there in the afternoon might be a good strategy to miss some of the crowds? We were trying to decide between AK morning and DS afternoon or the reverse.

Arriving in the afternoon (unless you want an early morning Safari ride) has always been a good strategy for AK, but nighttime entertainment will probably end that. Until then, though, I suspect it's still a good plan

Maybe all the crowds are low right now.

Went to Islands of Adventure and Universal yesterday and all day longest wait we saw was about 15 min

Thanks for the reply! I was considering an early lunch at DS and then over to AK and I think I'll give it a shot this trip!

my family was at WDW 1 year ago the week after Thanksgiving and did early emh at all parks and had no waits or hardly any waits (except for Peter Pan's) in any park for any attraction untill the late am.. That includes going to the parks at reg. am start and had no waits until very late morning.
At EPCOT walked up to Soarin at rope drop and walked right up to the staging area. Then got done and used fast pass with only a 5 min. wait. At AK walked up to safari and got right on the bus. Same for Dinosour. AT MK my son and granddaughter had some a very special experience. right after 6 pm supper they rode splash mountain 4 times in less then 1 hour by riding getting off walking up and doing it over and over.
All depends on time of year and crowds. A couple years ago we went at same time and got to EPCOT WS at 11 am and didn't meet anyone from China till we were well past the outpost.
I think something was up last year because we viewed Illumanation around Germany and there was very good viewing spots open right before show time.
At HS went am emh on saturday went to TOT and got to see preshow and went right on up. BUT later in day it was bad with (found out from CM) locals flocking in to see last season of Osborne lights. We left maybe at 7pm due to adr and there was a steady stream of traffic coming into HS.

I was also at both Universal parks on Tuesday, longest wait was for Dr.Doom at around 10-15 minutes and that's cause they only were using one tower, everything else was a walk on,even the Potter rides at both parks and the new Kong ride.

THIS is encouraging, and exactly what I'm hoping for! Haven't been able to score a FEA FP, so just hoping we can walk in at rope drop and not have to wait to long, or that standby is shorter than FP and we walk by laughing at them... Lol :)
