No Kids Allowed

Supply will always follow demand and it seems like there are people who would frequent this restaurant as evidenced by this thread. There is a reason Sandals resorts are popular.

And there's a reason Beaches is popular too. Something for everybody. Nobody should get their panties in a knot just because someone dares cater to a niche that they do not belong to. :thumbsup2

I agree- fine with me! Sure, there were a few years that we would have gone elsewhere since we usually had kids in tow, but we would frequent it the rest of our lives.

I agree with everyone else. If people made their kids behave appropriately for the situation this wouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately there are a lot of people who think that letting their children do whatever they want whenever they want regardless of whether it bothers other people is acceptable.

I wouldn't patronize such a place even if the kids weren't with us, but if that's their business model, that's up to them.

I have a 9yo and 11yo, so right now at this point in our lives, we wouldn't go there, just because we always take the kids w/ us. But I'm sure at some point, I'd enjoy an adults only restaurant. I see nothing wrong with it.

Yeah I have no problem with it. I might even go there on a date night with my husband ;)

I was one who thought the airline thing was ridiculous, but a restaurant is an entirely different thing. Going out to eat is a luxury and there are plenty of choices out there for young families. The airline thing bugged me because often travel is a necessity and to ban kids does discriminate against a whole subset of the population.

I prefer they ban the parents that allow their kids to wild in restaurants.

Right. I don't mind kids when they aren't screaming. But who can enjoy a meal with screeching going on for the whole meal. (rhetorical, that's why it ends in a period.)

I'd have no problem with it - it's their business, and I'm sure they see a market for it - if their wasn't a market for it, you'd see the kid ban go by the wayside.

It is a sad documentary concerning how low the level of parenting and responsibility has gone. If parents maintained control of their children, cleaned up after them, etc., then this type of "ban" would never have happened.

And to the parents that feel that it is alright to let their children be undisciplined and that the rest of the world just has to put up with it, well this says no...the rest of the world doesn't have to put up with it and they have reached the breaking point of toleration.

The people that suffer the most are those that do maintain control of their kids, and are now prevented from some things due to the mindlessness of others. Too bad, but you could see it coming.

Wonderful!! Where is it, can I go tonight??? :cool1:

Now can we get a NO KIDS ALLOWED Movie Theatre, Supermarket, Dept store and everywhere else I frequent and I'll be a HAPPY woman!! :yay:

We HAVE a "no-kids" movie theatre in NC...sort of. Charlotte's Epicentre theatre has a no-kids under 21 policy for movies after 8pm. May go there this weekend for Harry Potter!

But children weren't banned from the airline. They were only banned from the first-class section. Anyone who needed to travel with kids could have still flown on that very same plane, just not in first class.

I think it is a great idea and would definately go there. About an hour from us we have an adults only cinema (over 18). They show kids type films that adults might like (I saw the Simpsons Movie there.) There is a bar at the back and every seat is a lazy boy arm chair with a table next to it for your drink. I wish it was nearer as I would go there more often as a treat. Kids don't miss out though as the same films are shown in the regular cinema in the same complex.

I've seen this in late night theatres, never during the day when I like to go. I remember sneaking to see the Oscar noms at an early show, only me and a few people in the entire theatre. THEN a woman comes in with a baby. A few mins later the place was unbearable. She must've been deaf. One by one everyone left, I guess that was her point...:confused3

It's a private business. They can do whatever they want. Obviously, they've determined that this is something that would work in their business model. There are plenty of restaurants out there that welcome kids. What kind of restaurant is it? I can guarantee they won't lack for customers.

Yeah, I agree. It doesn't bother me that they ban children. For years, TGIFridays excluded children after 8pm. They may still do that. It's too bad some people think their children belong anywhere even if their behavior is disruptive. I never had a problem finding a place to take my under 8 year old child when he was of that age. I don't feel it's discriminatory at all; it might even be a smart move. Everyone on this board knows I'm pro child. I think this is a 'pro peaceful restaurant' issue. There are just times...ya know?

As the mother of two children, ages 8 and 13, I have no problem with restaurants that chose not to cater to children. There are tons of other restaurants for us to chose from if we are out to dinner with our children. I also like the idea of a place the my DH and I can eat dinner without children too. Completely free market concept for me. Let's face it, while many parents have taught their children to behave while in public, others have not. Sounds like a great place to eat for date night.

::yes:: My thoughts exactly (even down to the ages of my kids! ;))
