just a quick note from my cruise last week on the Magic, Heard there was talk about getting up at 6:30am on the St. Thomas day and go thru Imigration, the night before we all went to guest services and was told that we were not going to do that, it something new that they are doing, we were just the lucky ones to not go thru, I think it depends on what ship and day you are on, maybe one week yes and the other no, who knows, just thought I would let you all know.

Quick question -- if you're not planning on getting off the ship at one of the stops (e.g. Nassau), do you still have to go through Immigration?

Thanks. :)

Right after 9/11, everyone had to go thru immigration when first coming back in to a US port, regardless of whether you were getting off the ship or not.

Recently, it's been reported on this board that only non-US nationals must report to immigration when coming back to a US port (again, still regardless of whether you are getting off or not).

I believe that the mandatory Immigration check has been suspended temporarily. One report says for 60 days. If you're going to Nassau, you won't have to do this anyway. It was only required when a ship arrived in a US port (Charlotte Amalie) from a foreign port (Philipsburg). At Nassau, the ship will clear immigration as it normally would, (i.e. the Bahamian Immigration checks over the passenger list and clears the ship).

If you are not a U.S. citizen you have to check with immigration. Everyone else is not disrupted from having fun! Captain Haans will let each trip know, or Jim (the cruise director). You get quite used to their helpfulness.
