This is a joke........right?!!

Scary!!!!

Not that I am rushing out to get one of these but...

It won't "shock" the patient unless he/she needs it. There is a EKG that you put on (little pads that stick on the chest) and the computer will tell you if the person "needs" it or not.:D

Ok, that makes sense :)

I am waiting to see Johnny Knoxville testing one out on MTV ;)

 This is something you do not want to mess with.
I can`t believe these are available to the public.

Have you read some of the reviews on that page - brilliant! :D

Quote:- The company I work for just purchased a truckload of these. Each unit is hooked up to an employee's keyboard, with the business end strapped to the employee's buttocks. As soon as my words per minute start to drop below the company's "productivity threshold", the Philips Heartstart gives me a little "reminder" to get back to work. They are surprisingly comfortable when inert (although mine can be a little cold on the bare skin on some mornings), and I have to admit that my productivity, and career outlook, has never been better. And as a pleasant side effect, my buttocks have become significantly firmer. However, as my bowel movements have become frequent and explosive due to the voltage, I have to spend more time cleaning out the company-provided chamber-pot attachment on my office chair. A small price to pay. ASIOF&EW()*& Oops! Better get back to work!

Hmmm - the thought that anyone untrained would consider using one of these in an emergency is very worrying - following on from that, I saw a report in which ambulance drivers/paramedics/doctors are increasingly being hampered at accidents etc. by people interfering, and saying that they know what to do because they have seen the same thing on Casualty

Oh my

lets hope none of these people find their way into an operating theatre after watching Holby City!!!!

Speaking as an employee of the company that makes these things, I do know that they are completely idiot-proof and the machine talks you through the procedure, evaluates the patient etc.

And anyway, with the amount of lawsuits that they have in the US they must be safe!! Besides, haven't you noticed them in all the resorts and parks at Disney....

They are probably safer than heart massage, 'cause if you do that wrongly you can cause some serious damage...

ps. If my MIL had had one of these my FIL would probably still be alive. He dropped dead of heart failure and she didn't have a clue, by the time the ambulance came it was too late.
