No gaiters only a mask with loops or ties

I agree! But DS23 wore one out on a fishing trip on a hot/humid day off our NJ coast. No shade on the boat. He said it wasn't hot and protected the back of his neck from sun. I still won't be using one for myself, but I couldn't convince him that it would be too hot in WDW in Sept.

I do now see ones that are SPF and "cooling" material.

We have been wearing them (Mission ones) to our local theme park (Silver Dollar City - Branson) and they have no issues with them. It has been hot and humid here and they have worked the best for us. They stay up just fine for us on rides and they really do help with staying cooler.

I have one from Buff that I've had for a decade. I wear it all the time for hiking in areas with lots of bugs etc near wet areas- Keeps all the bugs off you neck and face. When it's hot out- it's nice because I'm not wiping perspiration off my neck all the time. You can breath thru them just fine and I honestly think it's cooler than a mask because of the sweat wicking......

I never tried a gaitor, but it seems it would be hot around the neck? Just curious. I have a few masks that are good for me, comfortable.

Ours are the cooling type when wet, though we haven't wet them yet. My son wore his for 2 weekends (both days) in a row for most the day in Texas and was not bothered at all. He said he liked that his neck was covered. He has not liked any mask I've tried with him so I'm relieved to have found something he will wear.

I've bought 2 types from Amazon that have ear slits/loops and he did not find those comfortable. I have elastic, needle and thread. His will have loops for his ears so he should pass the requirements. We'll find out Friday.

I have gaiters that I hope to use. Mine have a tie that goes across the bridge of the nose and secures in the back. I find they stay on a lot better than standard gaiters and even better than standard masks.

That sounds perfect.

My DH wears a cooling neck gaiter when he goes running here in ATL to keep the sun off his neck and it helps keep his neck cool. I can see them being useful in WDW.

To those hoping to use a neck gaiter, I would just make sure that you can secure it in the back or through your ears. It sounds that if they are secured, neck gaiters are allowed.

Agreed - I'm going next week and bought nice gaiters for the whole family. They're tight-fitting so I don't really understand what good having a strap in back would do. I suppose we could cut ear-holes if that's the work-around, but I'm worried that if I cut them they'll start to tear.

100% this. Masks are much less cumbersome and stifling.

I have seen a few people cut holes in their gators to create "earholes". I have no clue how to do this to ensure nothing rips and it fits properly but there have got to be youtube videos etc to at least try with Disney (but take backups just in case)

FYI just a couple of stitches hold on an extra large hair band that can be used around the ears. You can buy them at Walmart. HTH

I saw a lot of people with gaiters (no ear loops) in MK today (on live streams). I'd say gaiters are probably fine but bring a back up just in case.

I work with two people who wear the gaiters. They are tissue paper thin and do not stay up, exposing me and my other coworkers to their germs. Despite several complaints, our management will not make them wear actual masks. Good on Disney for enforcing this policy.

If you want thin, lightweight masks, the blue disposables are inexpensive and very light. There are tie on and ear loop versions. Easy peasy.

Most of them are made from a polyester blend and have a cooling effect if you get them damp.

The polyester blend gaiters are so much cooler than wearing a cotton mask in hot weather. I coach baseball and lately we have been required to wear a face covering when coming into the complex and if we are in the dugout with the kids. I wore a cotton mask one weekend and it was miserable. I had to take several walks away from the dugout between innings to get some fresh air. This past weekend I had a gaiter and it was so much nicer. Much easier to breath and not hot at all around my neck.

What type of gaiters are those? Those sound interesting. Would definitely like to check them out.

I just ordered gaiters. DD had already bought some. DGD will wear them (her Ninja mask) and will not wear a regular mask.
DH has a problem with the ear loops knocking his hearing aid out
We'll see when we try them. I have quite a collection of masks now

I am watching a live stream too and it looks like they made slits in the gaiter where their ears are.. Looks easy to do and more comfortable than a traditional face covering.

They sell them like that. My son requested neck gaiters instead of masks and they are available on amazon like that.
