I would also keep checking but if no luck, get there at rope drop and try it. If the wait is already 30+ minutes by the time you get there, skip it. It's a cute ride but I wouldn't waste 45 minutes of one day only at MK to ride it. Plus its a very short ride as well.

Teens will enjoy at least one ride on it. We only waited 10 minutes immediately after the fireworks show on our last visit. I believe the posted wait was 80, but you could tell from outside that it wasn't accurate.

Don't let the posted wait times scare you.

We were unable to get FP's for it on our November trip, and trusted our Touring Plans app to get us on the ride with as short a wait time as possible. When we showed up, the posted wait time was 60 minutes; I sat with the baby in the stroller parking area to feed him, put my feet up, eat a snack, while Hubby and the 4-year-old went to ride. They were through the queue, on the ride, and back to stroller parking in 25 minutes total.

(This was mid-morning, maybe 1030/11am, on Veteran's Day, a Friday, which is a holiday and the tail-end of Jersey Week. TP Crowd Calendar had it at whatever their second-busiest tier designation is called, I forget.)

You didn't state if a pre-park opening reservation was an option. If so you can use mouse dining dot com or touring plans dot com for finding an ADR for Be Our Guest the hour before the park is open to most visitors. I used the one on TP and it found me and my kid an ADR for 8 am so we should be able to finish breakfast and get to 7DMT before the rest of the people who are let into Fantasyland around 9 am. It took the ADR finder about a week to find the early ADR and it isn't ever a sure thing that it will, but it is an option. The mouse dining ADR finder is free and I think that the TP one is too even if you don't have a TP subscription (I do so not sure if free to everyone). Eating at BOG is a goal of many people anyway so it may be something else you can cross of your list of things to do and see at the Magic Kingdom if you do get that early ADR. Obviously this isn't a free option, but one none-the-less. To make it less expensive, I have heard of adults ordering off the children's menu with no push back from the CMs.
