Was making some ps's for our upcoming trip..so I figureded I would ask. No info yet in the system about the special dinners!
Sure hope they give us some heads up on what will be available..can you imagine the circus if they don't!

i got a hold of a press release yesterday. it had no specific information, but a few tidbits:

events include: Bordeaux Wine School, Napa Valley Wine School (new), Epcot Exquisite Dinner Series (new), WDW Signature Dinner Series (doesn't say this is new, but i don't remember it. maybe its a new name for the Reserve Dinners?), Party for the Senses, Food & Wine Pairings (now daily, with 2 some days), Brewers Dinners (new), Lunch and Learns, Vertical Tastings, "and other events."

absolutely no specifics on any of these. other than that prices for these events range from $35 to $175. i read somewhere that party for the senses will be $95 this year (i might've read that on this board.)

It then says that hundreds of disney and celebrity chefs will participate, including Allen Susser (of Miami), Michael Ginor (Hudson Valley Foie Gras), Eric Tanaka (Beard winner from Seattle, i think?), Paula Deen, Alan Wong (of Hawaii), and Emily Luchetti (pastry chef from san fran.)

that's all the names they give.

if anyone can build on this info, i'm very interested.

Its good to hear something anyway.

The signature dinners have been around for about two years now. They used to be the Winemaker Dinners when they were held in the Odessey.

Actually, the Epcot Exquisite Dinner Series sounds like it is replacing or adding to the reserve dinners.

you are correct. i just went to the press release from last year and see that the signature dinners were held at various "signature" restaurants at the resorts. jiko, citricos, cali grill and the like. that makes sense. i was unfamiliar with those. i hone in on the parties for the senses and the lunch and learns.

i really wish they'd be a bit more forthcoming with who is gonna be there and when. even if they had to put disclaimers on it, it would be nice to get an idea.

meanwhile, i patiently wait for the DDE newsletter, hoping it arrives before july 20.

Thanks for posting Jim !! I'm dying to find out what events they are having this year!!! My heart is actually going a little faster right now over these few tidbits of info :D

PLEASE post more info when you get it!!

Certainly they'll give us more info BEFORE the 20th - I can't imagine what the phone lines will be like if we have to ask what is available before we make our ressies!! Does anyone remember what a nightmare the phones were on opening day for ressies last year?? Dreading that part of it actually!! Thanks again - Jill

Oh my G-d, Paula Deen? Thanks for the warning.

I like Paula Deen :)

I'd love to see Alton Brown! I know he wouldn't be there, though. Just as long as Bobby Flay isn't there.

yeah, i'm not so much interested in paula deen, either. more power to those who are. that's why they invite hundreds of chefs, i guess.

bobby flay is there almost every year. i really like him, and his restaurants. his demos are always fun, and his food at the tastings is always a highlight to me.

i saw alton brown at a little mall tour thing down here a couple of weeks ago. he is incredibly engaging. a lot of fun to watch, too. i would love it if they got him.

another person there almost every year is rick bayless. no guarantee, just a trend i've noticed. i'm guessing that chef's with kids in the 5-15 year old range love to do this festival. just a guess.

mario batali is the guy i would love to meet.

thanks Jim....hopefully more info coming soon.

They did have the beer dinners last year..first time, held at Rose and Crown. Would like to see if they are doing something different with them this year..maybe using belgians or microbrews. Last year it was the normal type beers...imports..but the ones we all know about.

I'd like to see Alton Brown as well! I saw him at a local food event in Philly and was disappointed that all he made was homemade potatoe chips. But he is an incredible chef with an amazing array of knowledge.

I think Paula Deen would be fun to watch...she cracks me up.

I like Ina Garten - she makes some WONDERFUL dishes on her Food Network show.

BTW, can anyone explain what the Lunch and Learn is all about? This will be my first year at the F&W Festival and I'm really excited!

Lunch/learn..a celebrity chef doing a little cooking/talking and then you get to test what he is cooking. I think there were three courses/samples..but that probably depends on who you saw.
