No Flames pls but did not like Dolphin Resort

Sorry your stay was less then perfect. I feel the same way about the Swan..love the Dolphin, but hate the Swan. And there are a ton of folks who fee the exact reverse. I also have no desire to stay at the GF...it does absolutely nothing for me. My home resort is BWV, so that's where I am for the most part...well, there and POP and sometimes Dolphin.
It's funny but just last night I got a call from a friend who was eating at Picabu. She asked me if I had eaten there since they changed it and I told her I ate there last Dec and again in Jan. She said it was much improved and was a great option for a quick bit to eat, which we really don't have at the BW.
While at the Swan, we weren't able to get room keys until the morning after we checked in...the computers had an issue, and I don't blame anyone for that but it sure made it hard for us to head out to grab a bit to eat at Picabu after arriving late. Then, the room was tiny, overlooking the entrance facing the Dolphin. We left for the day in the morning, around 6:30 because we had an early ADR at Donald's at AK. My dh started getting really tired about 9:00 that night in the middle of the Pirate/Princess Party so he headed back to the Swan. When he got to the room, it hadn't been touched...no towels, no clean beds..nada. He called down and was told it would be a little bit before housekeeping could make up the beds. He told them to forget that, just drop off some clean towels...he was going to get into the bed, didn't need it made up at that late time.
So, nope, no more Swan for us. It goes to show there is something for every taste at WDW...it's one of the things I love. I get to choose a different resort all the time, especially nice if I'm just staying for a few nights.

I love the Dolphin but no flames here. I like all the convention people because we're not competing for the same things--they want the bar and we want the buses/boats, pools, and the parks. :thumbsup2 Works out well for us! We've also had excellent service there, and love the beds and the location.

Luckily, there are hotels for every taste at WDW. I had bad service at AsMo so no more values for us. We tried the WL last trip and it was very nice but too much competition with other guests for the things we like to do and too isolated for us.

Sorry you didn't enjoy it!

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay at the Dolphin.

Swan/Dolphin lover here, with a preference for the Swan. I usually make a call to housekeeping when I first arrive, and ask that my room be cleaned before 1 p.m. daily. I like to go back to the room mid-day, and it's hard to rest when you expect the maid to show up any minute.

I'm not very fond of Picabu. The one morning I had breakfast there before a morning tour at Epcot, the scrambled eggs were pretty unappetizing. The breakfast buffet at Fresh was excellent, however. I also like the sundaes at the take-out counter at The Fountain.

I'll be back at the Swan for a week in October, then at the Dolphin Thanksgiving weekend with my husband and kids. The Dolphin's lobby at Christmas is a real "wow" experience!

I'm sorry you didn't like your resort choice. I know how that is. We really like the Swan and Dolphin but I can't say that we prefer it to our favorite Disney owned resorts the BC and the Poly. But, they have great rooms, rates and wonderful beds. Great location. The convention element doesn't bother me. I just ignore it.

I like reading others' opinions on the different resorts. So glad there is something for everyone.

That's a very good point! When I stay at the Swan in October, there will be a VERY large convention going on (Gartner IT Expo) that will have conventioneers all over the Swan and Dolphin, as well as the Yacht/Beach Club and the Boardwalk. They generally don't bother me.

Another thing I like about staying at the Swan/Dolphin is earning Starwood points. I've used those points for free hotel nights or transferred them to an airline frequent-flyer program. :)
