No fireworks on Thursday Dec. 6???

Hello,

I'm back from my California trip with my wife. We had just one day we could spend at Disneyland, Thursday Dec. 6. It was a great day, even though more crowdy than I thought it was. We had time to do most of the rides we wanted to, save for Matterhorn, which had a too long line. We loved our day and most of the attractions. We were amazed by all the Christmas decorations, it was very beautiful. I was only disappointed to have waited more than 35 minutes for Finding Nemo, which was quite disappointing IMO. My fave ride was Indiana Jones, followed by Pirates Of the Caribbean. The Christmas-themed Haunted Mansion and Small World were excellent too.

My biggest disappointment however was that the fireworks got cancelled, supposedly because of the wind or the bad weather conditions. But as for me, the wind was quite light and the weather was good. Does it happen often that the fireworks are cancelled? Anyone konws what happened? I was sad to miss them cause I saw the Disney fireworks in Orlando, FL and they're the best I've ever seen...

Even though you just felt light winds on the ground, there must have been upper elevation winds which caused the fireworks to be canceled. They send up a balloon about 10 minutes prior to showtime which determines if the winds are too high to safely have the show.

Fireworks are canceled much more frequently in DLR than WDW becaues DLR is surrounded by neighborhoods and businesses, and there are stricter fire code enforcements as well as noise level enforcements.

Sorry you missed it. I'm sure it was disappointing.

The fireworks were cancelled a couples times I've been there. On Gay Days this past October and before that was some night in May.. In October because it was windy and in May because it was too overcast.. It's pretty disappointing, IMO..

Oh man we were there Thursday night too!!! We had prime seats, a great bench that backed up to a planter box, right next to the ice cream cart over infront of the rockets. The seats couldn't have been better and we were not over crowded at all. We saw the balloon being sent off and the announcement that the fireworks might be canceled. The winds were below light from where we were so we kept our fingers crossed. This was the only night the kids would be able to see them since the park cosed at 8pm that night and 12am the rest of our night there. Anyhow we were so bummed they were canceled, but hey we had yummy dessert and walked right onto Buzz so the kids weren't too upset

We've been there numerous times when the fireworks are canceled. No fireworks one night while we were there. And the other night I think they cut them short because of rain and whatnot.

35 minutes for Nemo isn't bad at all! And even though the Matterhorn line was long...it probably wouldn't have been a super long wait. Then again, if you think 35 minutes is long than maybe you wouldn't have wanted to wait. But we were in a line that wrapped all the way around the matterhorn and it only took maybe 45 minutes or so.

A 35-min line is indeed long for me. I came to Disneyland "unprepared" (with no plans on doing any ride before the other), thinking it would be quite uncrowded, which it wasn't, as the crowd was pretty big in the afternoon.

When I was in Disney World in August 2005, with much bigger crowds, I had that Tour Guide Mike plans that I used and I never waited more than 15 minutes for any rides.

I guess it's all about perspective. Because to me, 35 minutes isn't too bad. I've been to the park on days where certain rides have 2 to 3 hour long waits. Those are the days where we just walk around and people watch.
