No fireplace for Santa

I bought a really cute stocking stand several years ago.

My stocking stand is about 3-4 feet tall with a reindeer on top of it and has 4 hangers on each side for the stockings. It is sturdy enough that I have never had a problem with it standing up. I saw another stand not long ago that was really cute, but now I can't remember where.

That sounds neat, I'll have to keep my eyes open!

Our little grandson's home has no fireplace... he has the key, in a nice red velvet bag....I love the idea...and here is their stocking holdler, I believe it is like what some of you are speaking of...

Do you have a railing? I used to hang our stockings on the railing going upstairs. I just decorated it with garland and tied the stockings to the ribbon, it looked great.

Here in Mass, RI, NH and Maine we have a chain of stores called Christmas Tree Shops. They are like a discount specialty store. Last year they had the Santa Keys for 2.99 and then after christmas they were half price. They sound like the same ones from the catalogue. I got one even though my kids are 21 and 16! I still put out milk and cookies and now we have the key well there is no reason that Santa will not come. Unfortunately I found out the dog was eating the cookies after we went to bed lol!

When the kids were little I would push back the drapes in the living room and then make believe that Santa came in through the window. I would purchase a couple of little toys at the dollar store and "drop" them outside to make my kids think that Santa was clumsy trying to get in the window and dropped some things on the porch. IF it snowed I got some boots and made some foot prints in the snow. This works especially well if you are on the second floor and have a roof outside the window. Drop a few toys and put a few foot prints! Gets 'em every time.

Growing up, we had no fireplace or mantle. Mom hung our stockings on the stairway railing, piano or curio cabinet. We also just believed in magic and that Santa came through our roof and into the house - we were never concerned about it.
