no fastpasses?

This may actually be about the free "fastpasses" that they used to give out in exchange for spending time with the guides talking about DVC. They used to give some (three?) single-use "fastpass tickets", that you'd insert into a fastpass kiosk to get a fastpass for that ride. Since they are separate from your admission ticket, there was no exclusion time before you could get another one.

I believe they stopped giving those out last year.

To get a fastpass, you insert your park admission ticket into the fastpass machine. There's absolutely no way for it to tell whether you're a DVC member or not. Tickets have no relationship to your DVC membership at all.

At the completion of the DVC tour, guides sometimes give out fastpasses that can be used for any ride. Is it possible that you read someone's comment that they didn't get fastpasses at the end of their tour?

Hey this could be a fun topic!

I heard that DVC members can only ride Space Mountain when the lights are on.

I also heard that DVC members can only buy the turkey legs that are made from Emu's

Anyone else?

I head that they were changing the Fastpass system to only accept member cards, making Fastpasses a specific membership perk for DVC!!!

Well, I'm so glad. A friend of mine that had looked into it once before heard this. Not sure where he found it. He was saying something about you could only do fastpasses if you were staying on property and dvc room keys did not include you as staying on property.
I've never NOT stayed on property before (well, not for a long time) so I never really knew if the staynig on property was actually a perk for fast passes or not.
Thanks for the help!!

Disney does not have the staying on property restriction on Fastpasses, they are open to anyone, DVC members, day guests, anyone with a park ticket. Universals Front of the Line system is only for people staying at the Universal hotels.

Disney does have a patent that would allow them to prioritize Fastpasses based off other criteria - say guests at the Grand Floridan could get a new Fastpass every hour, guests at Pop could get one every four....There was a huge outcry when that patent was filed, but that was years ago and Disney has seemingly done nothing with their patent.

Your friend was wrong on all counts. When you stay at a Disney resort, whether it's on points or cash, you're entitled to all the resort guest perks - EMH, DME, charging to your room, sending packages back, etc. You're definitely an 'on-property' guest.

And fastpasses are available to anyone with a park ticket - Disney resort guests or off-property guests.

DVC resorts ARE on property unless you are staying at Vero!! YOu can't use a room key to get a fastpass unless it contains admission media. Maybe they were talking about the Fairfield property and not DVC.
