My DS is 8 and we're planning a 5-day trip to WDW. Looking at ticket prices it seems better value to purchase 10-Day No Expiry tickets and keep the unused days for a future trip rather than buy 5-Day tickets that expire.
My question is - if DS is over 10 on our next trip, can the child ticket be upgraded to an adult one, or does it just become invalid? In which case can you purchase an adult ticket for an 8 year-old?

I found the upgrading issue in general to be clear as mud, but maybe you can make better sense of it.

allearsnet.com/pl/ticket.htm#olderchild

about halfway down the page is the issue of upgrading. They have a paragraph on upgrading children's tickets which seems to be pretty straight forward, I just couldn't tell if they were talking about MYW tickets or the old tickets. Good luck!

Disney's policy is a partially used child's ticket will be upgraded free of cost to an equal adult ticket for the same child.

Thanks for the advice and the link. Glad I can go ahead and get the child ticket.

We did this with my niece on our last trip. She was 8 when we first bought and used her ticket, but 10 when we went back and used the remaining 2 days. We took it to guest services in MGM and they upgraded it for us to an adult ticket.
