No Expiration Option '?'

Hi guys,
I'm relying on your help because I the people at Disney World didn't know the answer.

We are going to be in the WDW for 6 days...so we thought we'd add the extra days to our pass to make 10 days and buy the no expiration option so we can use the days the next time we visit. Well, obviously we don't need no exp. on the 6 days, only the remaining 4. Can we purchase this option, say, on the day of checkout to protect the remaining days? Or do you have to pay for the whole 10 day pass even though only 4 days remain? Obviously this can be a huge difference and would probably be undoable for us.
I appreciate any insight into this...I'm just surprised that Disney couldn't answer this question, we were told we'd have to ask that/take care of that at ticket services or guest relations.

yeah unfortunately the price is based on the length of the ticket not the remaining days, so even though you only have 4 days left, you pay for no expiry on the entire 10 days. I don't know the cost off hand but you can check disney website to see the price difference. we are doing it because we based it on the price for 6 days in the future as opposed to the upgrade, so we will not realize our savings till our next stay, but they are good forever so if don't go for 5 years, our savings will be even bigger because the ticket prices will only keep going up.

Yeah, it'd be just over $400 for me, DH, and dd. I know it makes good sense but, that's alot of cash to part with on vacation. I wish it were the other way around and you only had to cover the remaining days
