No EV Charging at the Contemporary

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it ironic that the Contemporary -- a futuristic themed resort -- has no charging stations for EV's? Wilderness has them, as does SOG.

I'll be renting an EV via TURO this weekend and while I don't anticipate needing to charge it as we won't be driving all that much, it's nice to be able to top off the power while parked at the resort.

Have a magical day,

Boris

Too true. It’s as ridiculous as several Animal Kingdom restaurants exclusively serving animal products in their restaurants, with no vegetarian/vegan options until a few years ago. There’s often a gap between naming conventions and reality.

Not surprised. I just stayed there last month and there is nothing contemporary about the Contemporary.

I think the Contemporary and the Poly are the oldest Disney resorts, so the lack of tech updates makes some sense. It's not good, and it absolutely should be updated, but it makes some sense.

Charging stations are very expensive to purchase, so I imagine Disney has to prioritize where they put them. Could also relate to available infrastructure and/or parking spaces to allocate for this purpose. I would imagine the glamor of free recharging will be replaced by some sort of pay option. No gas station just gives away gas, so I have to assume recharging stations will follow the same path. Sounds also like the expectation in other places is you move your car away from these spots once recharging is complete.

I don't think the OP was suggesting a free charging station. Charging stations are typically app based, charged to a linked credit card.

BLT isn't that old. Charging stations could have been added. Disney is behind.

Places like Riviera have them because they were able to be built in, and there are places that have been remodeled that have them , but I don't believe any of those were put in before BLT was built. It's not like every resort has them and only CR and BLT are without, most don't, and it's because you can't just plop them in. You can to run lines to them and allocate space, and at CR and BLT there sometimes already isn't enough space to park as it is.
