Well, I called first thing this morning (Monday, Nov. 1) and tried to get Entertainment rates for the Portofino Bay Hotel. I talked to a nice guy who didn't seem all that positive about them. He said that no rates have been released as of yet, and he hasn't a clue when they will be. He made sure to tell me that not all rooms are eligible for this rate.

(sigh) Well, I'm thinking about pulling out and going back to a Disney hotel. We were hoping to split the stay between both WDW and US, but I am not paying $280 for a hotel room. The man said I had up until 5 days before arrival date to cancel with a full refund, but I don't want to take the chance that I'll lose out on the Disney BDP code, too.

What would you do????

I left out that I do currently have a reservation for Jan. 7-10.

Anyone else out there have any news??

The only rate I know of that's out right now is AAA. Have you checked that one? I have been waiting for either the ENT or APH to come out as well.

My rates are so high for our March 30th trip that I'm seriously thinking about staying at a Disney resort and renting a car. At almost $300/night I could do this and save a ton of money. I'm counting on there being some kind of AAA rate in order to make this more reasonable. For $300/night I could stay at the Grand Floridian instead of HRH.

Our trip dates are 3/30-4/3/05. When I called 1(800)BeAStar this morning, the Lowes rep told me that "there wouldn't be any discounts" on my dates because they are between Easter and Spring Break. It sounded to me like he was speaking in general so I asked him specifically if an ENT discount was available for my dates and he said "No."

I'm very disappointed, of course, but what choice do I have? Since we have to go at such a busy time of year, we feel that we really need to stay onsite for FOTL. Can anyone see another option?

I like this post by mm6mm6 http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=671355 and truly it does make sense. For the busy times when FOTL is invaluable I would use this formula to see if it's "worth it" for you.

It really doesn't make sense for me. We have three rooms over Easter week. With the BDP code we can get a great rate on AKL, my favorite Disney resort. I really love the RPH too but the cheapest I can get it at that time is $264 a night. With taxes we're taking close to $300 a night. For three rooms that's close to $900 a night. That is just not doable. Unless something come out under $200, a little more than disney I can't see it.

Mega13, I'd go ahead and book at Disney with the code. You can always cancel. I'm sure availability is dwindling and those rates won't be available after Dec. 1.

I know some people will book at Universal even without discounts, I won't. If they see those rooms filling up at these outrageous prices there is no incentive for them to give a discount.

Well, I just got the BDP code for a room at WL. I cancelled my reservation at Portofino Bay. I am more than happy to split my stay between AKL and WL. I figured out car rental, and we still saved a decent amount of money versus paying rack rate at US. Too bad for them... we'll still go to the US parks, but they won't be getting our business for the hotel room, room service and other meals. I was even planning on getting a massage. They must be doing great business from everyone else this year if they don't care about mine.

Very sad, but I'm already over it. How does everyone else feel?

I'm in the same boat. We're going to be in Orlando from March 20 to 24, and I've been waiting for November 1st to roll around, hoping to get a lower rate than $264 at RPR as a result of a code. I just called and there's nothing - the girl told me to try back in January!!

I just can't justify spending that kind of money for one night - when I add in our passes the total cost gets even more outrageous. I'm pretty disappointed. We really wanted to stay onsite, but not at these rates...

I talked to my family about this tonight. I decided that we'll stay off site the first night 3/30 - as close to US as we can get. Then get a cab or walk to HRH for ONE night 3/31. We can check in and have them hold our luggage - use the FOTL passes for that day and then the next. We'll stay in Cocoa Beach for the last night since we're cruising on 4/2. Unless of course some discounts become available. But I figured at a rack rate of $294/night for a standard room - I can stay anywhere else for at least $150/night cheaper. So HRH is going to miss out on all our meals, room service, and etc....

It will be interesting to see if they'll be as busy as they seem to think. We were there the same week 2 years ago and literally walked on to every ride. Never had to wait in a single line....
