No Direct Busses to Resort when Monorail is down?

Just a little vent.
We were staying at CR and were visiting Epcot for the night. We stayed a bit later after closing at the restaurant to avoid the monorail rush, only to arrive to find the monorail was down. That part was fine we understood that things happen.

The part that was upsetting was we were told there were buses for us. They did have many buses, but they all went to the TTC. Other resort guests had buses to their hotels but we had to go back to the TTC to get on the monorail. The trip took over 1 1/2 hrs. There were hundreds of people waiting to get on the buses and that was at 9:45pm. Why wouldn't they just split up the buses and take people back to their hotels? To make matters worse was by the time we got to TTC Wishes had just finished. Can you say massive crowds?

It is things like this that make us question the need to stay at a monorail resort. When I finally got back to the hotel I asked the desk CM. He was surprised they didn't have direct buses and told me to write a complaint letter when I got home.

I ran into a similar snafu when the monorail was down last trip and I was trying to get from the Poly to the MK before the boats were running for a BBB appointment.

Since then I've been worried about staying at a monorail resort because when the monorail is down, they don't seem able to adequately transport via bus.

I'm giving it one more shot this time, if this is a fail, it's off to the Yacht Club I go!

A few years ago we were at Epcot (staying at BWV). We wanted to head over to MK for a few hours before the end of the day and watch the fireworks. Okay...we had had dinner in Japan, so decided to walk to the monorail and take the nice, relaxing way to MK. yeah, right. Should have just gone back to BWV and taken the bus!!! We got to the monorail platform entrance only to find that it was closed. There was an issue along the line...seems lightning had hit it. Okay. We were told there were buses going over to the MK area. Well....I wasn't about to join my new 1000 newest friends in that line!!! So, we headed to the TTC bus...much shorter line. Well, when we got to the TTC, about 30 mins later, we found that the crowds for the ferry were huged!!!! So, walked over to the Polynesian to get their boat to MK..yet another longish line. That line had probably about 40 people in it. So we waited. All in all? By the time we got to MK it had taken us 2.5 hrs to get there. DH walked directly to the bus stops and went back to BWV!!! Dd and I spent about an hour in the park and then left...had time for 2 rides and the fireworks!
Depending on the monorail is not a good idea. Yes, it's fun. Yes, it's iconic. But if you have to be somewhere at a specific time, it's best to leave about double the time you think you may need for travel if using the monorail.
