DH is full time Army National Guard database administrator. With 900 computers on the network, and this dumb computer worm going around.......he just called to say he MIGHT make it home after midnight. :( I swear this man is married to the military sometimes.

Sigh...... guess I'll just settle in.

Oh....and wait till he sees how many people called here for him because their home computers are having problems. :(

We are on vacation next week...and I swear I'm taking the phone off the hook. He's been working & traveling (cross country) so much lately. He's just exhausted.

Oh...and of course....he needs to get up at 5:30am to make it into work on time in the morning. Geesh!

I feel so bad for him.

My husband is active-duty military, and if the military got paid by the hour, we'd be millionaires! I hope your husband can enjoy his vacation next week, and I think taking the phone off the hook is a very good idea!

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :teeth:

I hope your DH (and you!) enjoy your vacaton next week! I'll keep the fingers crossed for good weather.

Thanks everyone. Yes, the weather next week HAS to be better than the weather the past 2 weeks.

Just called DH & left a message suggesting he just stay in a hotel near work....to save the hour drive home & an hour back in the am....and try to get some sleep. Hope he gets the message before he drives home.

11:30pm -- I'm heading to bed.

I hope he comes home before midnight. I'd unplug the phone next week too, especially after the problems from that worm this week.

Well, it's now 7:30am.

Just spoke with him on the phone. He's STILL at work....never left.....and never got any sleep. He & 2 other guys stayed.

He's not sure when he can come home.
He's now been there WORKING for over 24 hrs.

Stupid computer worm!!! Those people who create these worms & viruses just for "fun" really bug me!!!

Oh no!! I hope they can take care of things today and he gets a comp day tomorrow to start his vacation early. I agree with you about the worm creators - why not use your powers for good?!

Ditto!

{{HUGS}} Splsh. My husband was diverted last week on Wednesday night - he ended up staying in Little Rock. Of course, that was MY night with him before I left for NJ for the weekend, but... Oh well! I hope your husband gets that worm figured out and all fixed! (BTW, before he leaves, can he figure out how to get Kazaa off my laptop? :p )

Edited for spelling

{HUGS} Joanne,

Enjoy your vacation next week! Where are you going?
I have the blaster worm on DS's computer. Trying everything to get rid of it, but nothing has so far. It's always something with these darn computers. Hopefully Scott will get paid overtime so you'll have more romantic dinners next week LOL!

Well, I last spoke to him at lunch time of DAY 2. He hadn't slept yet...and was living on coffee & donuts. Such a guy! LOL

He said he can't come home till all the machines are fixed. No one can get any work done without the computers...and they can't get on the web. (Something like that.) Isn't progress great? LOL No one can use a pencil & paper anymore. LOL

Now, it's 5:30pm Day 2....and I can't reach him (not unusual). Hoping he's sleeping.

As far as comp time or overtime as some have mentioned.
Let's see....he's got 155 hrs of vacation time coming;
353 hrs of sick time available;
40 hrs military time available.
Government doesn't pay overtime as far as I know.
Yup, just add that "COMP" time to the rest of the time off he can take if they'll ever let him. LOL

Looks like I'm a "single" woman for the night again. Good thing it's my (HGTV TV night. :teeth:

Oh man - no rest for the weary. I'm LOL about your pencil and paper comment. So true! I guess it could be worse and you could be in NY and have no power. Then again, they would have to let him come home then, huh? Can you believe the masses of people out in the streets there? Yikes!

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

He's coming home! He just called & will be leaving about 7:30pm. So that's 37 hrs straight at work. Man!!

Yup....and he's going in tomorrow. I don't know if that's dedication or delirium. LOL

I didn't even ask if they fixed it. LOL
And I certainly didn't tell him of the computer phone calls waiting for him at home. ;)

DH retired from the Navy after 20.5 years as a submariner. Never knew when he'd call when he'd be gone for 3.5 months at a time... just that the first month he'd be on shore trying to get the boat ready to go. They have a schedule and it has to be met!!

So glad to hear that your sweetie is coming home for a break tonight!

He's been in 21 yrs too. I'm used to it....but it still stinks. This year it's just been ALOT!!! I've cancelled every vacation plan we've made so far this yr. And he gets short notice that he's being sent somewhere for a wk. Sometimes, like just 2-3 days notice.

It's times like this I'm glad we live in a condo and I don't have to worry about the house or yard.

I'm not sure I'd tell him about those computer phone calls waiting for him! That man deserves a back rub and a good night's sleep! I know you will really enjoy your vacation after this week!

Oh man.....he gives ME the back rubs. :teeth: OK, I suppose I can give him one. ;) :D

Hahaha! I love my foot rubs, but every once in a while I give in and give a back rub. I'm sure he would love a back rub, and if he's anything like my hubby he falls into bed and says "Ohhhh, I love this bed!" After most of the last 2 years in a cot, DH was really happy to get home to his bed.
