However, it is unclear what he is talking about, the Standard Pat Down, Alarm Resolution Pat Down, or perhaps a third yet undefined.





Just remember that not opting out is no guarantee that you will not receive a genital grope.

Whatever...what happens, happens. I'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks. I guess it varies by terminal then. I flew AirTran and they just had the flat one. I think it's the backscatter.

Thanks for the link. I plan to send my kids thru the scanner any way. I would like to see if there is any definitive about whether or not children 12 and under are exempt. Just like to prepare my children for what they are going to experience. I find they are not frightened or nervous if I prepare them. Thanks again.

I've yet to see anything definitive, but keep in mind the TSA's predictable unpredictability and the fact that screeners have even challenged procedures when presented with a printout from TSA.gov.

And the metal detector takes maybe 4 seconds to walk through. The scanning process took me over a minute. You do the math.


Hope you like 5 and 6 hour wait times.

Here in Houston we had a reporter on the radio say that the new scanners are so slow that the line for security at one of the terminals went out the door. The last time I saw this was after the last attempted bombing.

If you are traveling any time soon get to the airport at least 2 1/2 hours early.

I agree. MCO's security is a nightmare on a good day...I can't imagine what this is going to do to wait times.

Yup, usually its 2 hours for us but I imagine flying out of there the Saturday before Christmas is going to really take forever...
