NO DDE for everyone??!!

That's great news cuddlemama!!! I too contacted Rosa and was told the same thing. She said if we had already ordered the card we would receive it and it would absolutely be honored. She also said we WOULD NOT have to show a Florida ID or an AP. I'm glad I emailed her because I just couldn't stand the wondering! Well, that's one less thing to worry about!!!

Yes, they may ask for a DL.

The information given by the director of DDE states that now you won't have to show DL or Ap, only the DDE card or letter. I guess they are getting tighter on the screening on the phone as they won't send the DDE card until they have verified, in the computer, if you have an AP. They can do this by name, they don't need the AP number.

To add to everyone's confusion ;) just a side note that I have used my DDE MANY times. I have had to show a FL dr lic maybe 3 - 4 times.

Well, this has been an interesting, magical experience for many. :teeth: :confused3 :sunny:
Thanks for the info. I am glad I did not suggest buying the DDE card to my out of state friends while the DDE flood gates were open. I would be feeling bad about it now.

Wow! am I glad we are Florida residents. We got our renewals for less then it used to be, and received an extra 2 months on our membership. Sorry you guys are having all of these problems. You should all move to Florida and then all of the questions will be moot. :teeth: :flower:

I have a question.

I was told the second card holder does not have to be an AP holder. Consequently, they will not be able to show an AP when they use the card if they're not AP'ers.

As I have posted on other threads, I am the AP holder in my family. I bought the crad earlier this month for DD's trip and pput her name as second cardholder for her Jan 5th tirp. She took the trip to Orlando not me, and used the DDE letter everywhere she could. No one asked for AP.

herc.

I was told you get ONE card only and the name on the card had to be the person using it. It was non-transferrable? Is this new? how did you get 2 cards?

Hi,

When I ordered the DDE card, I was asked if I wanted a 2nd card for another family member. 2nd family member had to be at least 21. Didn't have to be spouse or hold an AP. I called on Jan 3, maybe DDE office has changed to one card since then. Who knows?

Now Mitros... where would we educate all of those kids? The schools are overcrowded enough!;)

Please be aware that DDE is not applicable at EVERY restaurant. Only the ones listed- if you have an AP you can access the list on the www.disneyworld.com website.

Happy Savings!

Very frustrated! I ordered the DDE for $75, then, when I read about the problems, I called DDE and they told me I'd have to cancel, buy an AP, then I could call back with the voucher number and pay $50. I was willing because we'll be going with a party of 11 so the discount still outweighs the expense of the AP (we were buying 5-day passes anyway and I get a DVC discount on the AP) and the DDE membership. But several people here have listed that Rosa Flores told them they'd get their cards and could use them without an AP.

I've already purchased the AP at an expense of about $100 -- something I would not have done if I didn't have to. I've left a message to see if there's anything they're willing to do for me because I would not have spent the extra money for the AP if I could have used DDE without it.

Also, for those interested, they will not ask for your AP but they will ask for ID to make sure you are the person listed on the card. So if you have a spouse with a card and only one of you has an AP, that will suffice. We were a little worried about that because my husband and I will be splitting up a few times on our upcoming trip (and we'll have 11 people with us so the discount will matter for both groups when we split up!).

I talked with DVC today, and there are a few issues with this. It is suppose to be with Fl resident, and AP holders. If anyone that has purchased without these will still be honored for this year only. There was supposedly some confusion with everything.

I have also read this someone else on the boards. . .I beleive the dvc community board.

So you are being told correctly Fl residents and AP holders.

Wow! They really need to get this stuff together! And for the DDE CM's to blame unofficial websites is ridiculous. If they sold a card to someone who doesn't have an AP that's their proble - not the unofficial websites and their posters. Good luck to those needing a refund. Sheesh!

Honestly, I do think the error was not all DDE's fault or the unofficial sites fault. But certainly, the problem was compounded by the sheer number of people that read unofficial sites and the fact that those sites feed off of one another.

I agree. ::yes::

You are correct that only certain restaurants honor the card. We have been in Fl. for 8 years and have purchased the DDE each and every year, there have been many changes in which restaurant honors the card and which one does not. At one time there were a number of fast food sites that took the card but no longer do, and not all of the restaurants in WS honored it. It was only in the last few years that the eatery in Italy started taking it. It is always good to take a list of the restaurants that honor the card with you when you go, and always ASK if it is honored before you order. Disney also has a tendencey to make changes, and they DO NOT notify DDE members of those changes. :confused3 :drinking:

How would this work:

I will be purchasing an AP but won't do so until I actually get to WDW and it is my first park day. I don't want to shell out the cash earlier than that and don't want to risk losing a voucher. If cards take so long to send out and I can't get email while onsite, how do I get a use a DDE card for use on my trip?

Obviously, I won't have an activated AP or a voucher far enough ahead of my trip to get the DDE card or an email.

You call DDE once you have purchased your AP and give them the code number from the back of the pass. If you are in a park, they should be able to fax a DDE confirmation to Guests Services within that park, or to your resort.

Boy am I kicking myself! I called DDE the other day to get some info on it, and was told by the CM that it would cost $75.00 if I wasn't an FL Resident or AP holder, told her I'd call back after looking at various restaurants and finalizing my dining plans. I did so, called back today and was told I cannot get it without FL resident or AP - so now I can't even get it for $75.00! I'm ticked

I'm in the same boat. For once in my life, I waited which is not like me at all and now this great deal is gone. Think of it this way though...it would have been a HUGE hassle at the parks since you wouldn't have an AP or FL DL. That's what I am telling my self.

Does anyone know if Mitsukoshi Tempanyaki is accepting it? I highly doubt it, but thought I would ask.

Mitsukoshi Tempanyaki has always opted out of the DDE plan.
