No DA P.I.N. threads here?

I have visited a few times..... I just don't have the time to F5 right now :)

If I have nothing else to do one night...it can get addicting.

I bought a few.... But for the most part. They are expensive and not a low enough edition size to be fantastic traders... I would think that those that have the pins I am looking for will also have these so it would be hard for me to trade. I did get a fe like I said but mostly just one here and there. I did buy 3 of one for some friends though.

We have bought a few. Trying very hard to just get those that truly fit into our collection themes. I think though the F5 key is going to wear out a little faster than usual though on the keyboard :)

Not to pick on you Nat but I am curious baout your comments because I have seen similar ones elsewhere. I think an LE of 250 or 500 is pretty low. Isn't an LE of 100 about as low as Disney ever goes?

Also too expensive? I think 12-15 for a pin is perfectly reasonable as some of the LE 3000 go for $10.50 in the parks and much more on the secondary market.

I think DA is doing a good job of letting us non park types get some really low LE pins for a reasonable price.

Just my .02

Don't worry about picking on me... You asked a great question...Other posters on other boards feel as I do. How many is too much. I got a few of the pins I really liked and a few doubles of the ones I thought would be great traders. The problem is there are going to be hundreds of these auctions between now and the cruise. There are going to be hundreds of LE 250 to 500 pins all over the place. I think it is going to be hard to trade any pin other than an auction pin for another one. So unless you have the le 250 to 500 you are out of luck. That is why I think an LE 250 to 500 is high. I trade for pins now that are on a high level of value. I may make 1 or 2 trades now in 3 months. I am very focused on what I want. To get the pins I want I have to trade in what most call shark infested waters. I have to. It is the only place I can find the pins I am looking for. And who do you think is getting the most pins from these auctions.. It is the SHARKS. Or what most people refer to as sharks. I prefer aggresive trader. It is like any thing Disney... 1 in a 1,000 will be a hot item. I know people who have tons of LE 100's in their books and no one even looks at them. Disney pins are great but for some reason only pins from WDW seem to hold our intrest in the long run. Even DL pins don't trade well for the higher pins on my list.

As for the cost of them.... Well it is $12 to $14 dollars a pin plus 5 for shipping. That is $16 to $19 each. Now unless you wait to pay for all your auctions at once you can't combine shipping. Now most people will get one to keep and one or more to trade. So let's say the average person is getting 3 pins each time. Just at cost that is 36 to 43 bucks everytime. Not including any shipping. At just 65 bucks for shipping. And round it off to 40 to 50 dollars. Now you spent all that money and have to hope you got the 1 in a 1000 that will be a great trader. But being an auction pin let's drop that down to 1 in a 100. Now I don't live near a park and like I said I do very little if any internet trading (who knows the last time I traded on the net... I don't) So for me to hope I get the right pin that will allow me to trade for a high level pin I would have to take a chance on quite a few auctions. And that is expensive. It could be very easy to spend 40 to 60 bucks a week on auctions hoping to get the right one. And if they are like the 75% of the lower le100 auction pins they will make poor traders.

Now remember this is my opinion and I base it on how I trade. Others will see it differnt cause they trade different. And that is okay but for how I trade I don't see these as being a smart move for traders. Now as a collector I do. Some of these will fit very well in to what I collect.

I have been F5-ing when I can. I have bought way too many pins already...and this less than a week after the Epcot Event!

We bought the pins that fit our collections, a few that look like good traders, and some for other Pinpals who couldn't F5 at the right time or speed. ;)

As to trade value....I would say, as usual, that's anybody's guess!

But an edition size of 250 still means only 250 pins. I think it is unlikely that these will trade comparably to most of the DA LE 100s, but I find it hard to believe that these would end up equivalent to LE 2000s or 3000s. That just makes no sense.

Also, many (most?) of the DA P.I.N.S. are part of sets or series. So besides individual character/theme appeal, you will have those people looking to complete sets.

And then again....there are some LE 100s that are duds too. Just ask me how many trade offers I've received for my Mosaic Minnie! :p

When everyone was first posting on Dizpins about the DA pins -- I thought what is the big deal? I wish I had read no further and not ventured to DA. ;)
I was F5-ing with the best of them! :jester:
I was having (too much) luck getting the Tink 50 Years of Attitude. But I did sell a lot at cost to those with dial up modems. They don't have a chance at many.
After F5-ng like crazy last night (for HOURS  I'm sick I tell ya ) I managed to get ONE Tink/hook.
I did get a few Tink/blocks the night before and sold one at cost and another lined up for a trade. :)
I am glad for the breather.
I first thought the cost was too high too. And still no bargain. But with buying SO many  :p the shipping came to 75 cents a pin. And with tacking on that charge to those I bought for really helped all of us all the way around.
POOR Angie -- she had to pay over $50 just for shipping to Germany AND then she will have to pay 20% of the value to customs. I offered to have them sent to me and I send to her. I am sure she will do that next time. ;)
The Pooh/fireworks surprise pins I bought at WDW were $8.50 each. (Might as well say $9 with tax)
So yes, the Tink Attitude pins were more $. But I still think worth it. :)
I have never bought or seen a DA pin before. I am anxious to get my shipment.

i live far far away from any US park and still like to trade and collect pins, so i think it is a pretty good deal to not pay 50 USD for park entry plus 7 USD in parking fees , but have 25 pins shipped to a friend in the US for 17 USD plus 5 USD for the Global priority forwarding to germany !!!

I really like the artwork and even did buy my first princesses pins ( cameo aurora and snowwhite are ready to be traded away for a cinderella ).

I wasn`t able to get any low LE pins at cost before ( may i mention the stitch pins ) and did not like to spend 150 USD for a single stitch pin on DA before.. so here is my chance to get decent traders for a real good price....

I have fun trading not only for the "high-roller" pins i am missing, but do trades just for the fun and to keep my trader book fresh, but i understand Nat, too if he really is on the hunt for some single pins, he will not get the trader stuff he needs for this deals !

So i will continue to hunt for some nice pins and hope we will be able to help out others with a slow modem dial-up.. if i can help let me know,

happy hunting

Stephan

F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5 ...... ooops

I think your safe with pin that is Stitch, Tink or Maleficent. Those pins seem to hold value regardless of the origin. Those are the ones I went after for traders. Outside of that, I tend to agree with Nat on the rest of his points but only time will tell.
