No cupcakes at the BAKERY?

I have to rant for a moment....I saw the most amazing cupcakes in the shop next to the Winnie-the-Pooh ride...you know the kind, big swirls of fluffy frosting...YUM! I didn't buy one, because I knew that I would want my sweet treat later in the evening. Yep, a cup of coffee and but of 'zert to watch the parade sounded like heaven.

Fast forward hours later...found the perfect bench at the hub to watch the party..family settled in...off to the Main Street BAKERY to find some goodie. Stood in line...only to discover NO cupcakes....no anything the is just sweet and happy....a couple varieties of cookies, a brownie and some croissant looking thing! UGH!!! I asked the girl behind the counter and [I kid you not] she said...."We don't have cupcakes in the park!] :rotfl: Not sure what was funnier, that the BAKERY doesn't even have the best selection of baked goods, or that the people at the counter of the "bakery" are so clearly divorced from any form of "baking" that they don't even know what is available in other locations.....I know that Disney probably does all the baking elsewhere and all the "bakery" does is open a box, but come on people....!

Can someone explain why in the world the "Bakery" doesn't carry cupcakes or other sweet baked goods that can be found around the park? It seems to me that most people are going to be using it for the evening "lil' something" run......:confused3

Rant over.....

What the heck did she mean that they don't have cupcakes in the park(s)? We have all seen them! We have all seen these glorious display cases with the word "cupcakes" underneath! They most certainly do have them - even if the cupcakes are not made onsite. Could it be that she didn't know what a cupcake was?:lmao: Or could she have meant that they just didn't have any cupcakes that day?

Not only have I seen the cupcakes at Pooh Corner, but I have seen them at Blue Ribbon Bakery before, as well as somewhere else I am forgetting in DCA. Plus, even though this is not in the park, I have seen cupcakes at Marceline's in DTD, which is technically a candy store, so chances are they may be in the candy store cases as well (probably at the Candy Palace). In any case, I have seen them in the park. So either cupcakes are now a seasonal thing that they only bring out for holidays or certain busy periods, or the girl who spoke to you somehow misunderstood or somehow doesn't know what a cupcake is!!

My point, exactly! I saw them same day at Pooh Corner....:confused

Next time I'll check the Candy Palace...thanks for the idea.

I'm actually having a hard time remembering ever seeing cupcakes at Blue Ribbon Bakery.

At the bakery in DCA, definitely. Big, overblown, crazy cupcakes. And definitely back at Pooh. But Blue Ribbon? not sure.

However, there can be seriously slim pickings of *anything* at Blue Ribbon towards the end of the day.

I wouldn't say you were missing much anyway. I tried one and was very disappointed. It tasted days old and more like something Hoestess would package and sell than a delicous homemade treat.

Weird...I got a cupcake at the Blue Ribbon Bakery last summer (I remember it so well because it had a silver chocolate crescent moon on top of it, and I saved half of it for later because it was so big)...maybe they just don't sell them there anymore? Which really makes no sense, that one could buy cupcakes at 3 different CANDY stores (Candy Palace, Pooh Corner, Marceline's in DTD) but not at a BAKERY... :confused3

Yes, I definitely remember seeing cupcakes at BRB at one point - which would make sense, since they have cookies and brownies and other baked goods. But as to whether or not they are there all the time or just every now and then is a different story, I guess. Maybe they don't make them all the time? And the CM who told the OP that they didn't sell them in the park is just wrong because they are in the park one way or the other - either in the bake shop or in the candy store!! Pooh Corner is in the park, and we have all seen cupcakes at Pooh Corner!!

Just as an FYI...when I was staying at DLH last month, I saw a new kiosk right in DTD near the hotel (between Compass Books and ESPN) that sells boutique-style cupcakes!! They were beautiful. Didn't try one, but they sure looked good. Just a monorail trip away... :rotfl:

Will have to remember to go check it out (and take pictures for the "Food P0rn" thread ) when I'm there in about a month!

I was disappointed in our cookies last trip..hard and crumbly and when you pay that much for a cookie it should be good...I keep hearing reports of dry cupcakes, etc. Didn't they just get a new big bakery building on site? You'd think they'd have better products! I don't mind paying premium prices, but I want a premium product. That said, the cookies and other items in DCA in the train have never disappointed..I think they need to do some better training for the food service CMs if they don't know what products they sell and where..

We were there a couple of weeks ago, and we also thought BAKERY when we were waiting for the parade on Main St. No cupcakes or anything like that. We ended up with croissants. Then, a couple of hours later, we ran into the REAL BAKERY (lol) near Pooh. Oh I wish I would have waited!!!!!!!

I was just there two days ago, treating myself to something yummy at the bakery. I am sad to say that I wasn't too impressed. The selection should be amazing! Pooh should bring over some of his treats!

They did look great didn't they?? We tried to buy one on an evening in January and they were ALL OUT!! Frustrating to have them in the little window, still be open, and not having anything at all to sell!! :confused3

I will forgive Blue Ribbon Bakery for not selling cupcakes all of a sudden (even though they did have them there at some point not long ago!) because they still sell those big, yummy, ooey gooey, delicious, warm, melty cinnamon rolls!! If they stop selling those too, I may have to boycott!! I actually enjoyed what I got at BRB in the past - I would go in there more often if I could get a better view of the display case without 100 people in front of it. They always seem to have what looks like a good selection to me. I wouldn't expect a full bakery's array of goodies because they have space limitations and it is in Disneyland - just like Gibson Girl does not have the full variety of ice cream that other non-Disney ice cream places have. I just wonder when BRB stopped selling cupcakes there, because it was just recently when they had them!! If I had known there was a cupcake shortage in DLR, I would have grabbed some cupcakes at Goofy's Kitchen the last time I was there - they serve them even for breakfast, even though I would assume they are not as good as the ones in Pooh Corner or Marceline's. Again, maybe cupcakes are only going to be a seasonal thing at the bakeries now - they will trot them out for Halloween and Christmas and no other time?

(Blue Ribbon Bakery also used to sell strawberry shortcake at certain times of year - which I didn't know was there until they had already stopped selling it:mad:. It looked absolutely delectable from the photos I saw. I am sure it was a popular item, so I can only imagine that they stopped making it because it was to costly or something.)
