No commision on buying shares

I didnt buy any shares after today as it was getting a bit confusing and the site was having problems and wouldnt let me add anymore money into my account, I'm going to try again in the morning, i hope it will all work then.


I'm sure the man i spoke to on the live chat didnt have a clue as when i first logged on to the chat i asked about the free commission and he told me there was no such offer, after i copy and pasted the info he told me to hang on and came back to me a few minutes later and said i was correct and then he said that about paying the commission and getting a refund!

I'm glad everything was sorted out for you quickly, reading your post has made me a bit more positive about it and i will try again tomorrow.

Hi nahteb20, yes I did get comission free. It didn't say anything about refund in my account - it just didn't charge me when I made my purchase. The link to the offer is here (just incase you didn't have it to hand so you can have a good read): http://www.halifax.co.uk/sharedealing/events/

It is valid for all trades on international equities so this would be eligble as this is a French transaction and the £100 is not taken out of your bank account until your account is activated (which then becomes your fund to make purchases). You would have to add more money into your account if you wish to purchase more then £100's worth of shares. Foreign exchange rates still apply.

I would maybe try again today to make your purchase - see if it does take off the commission after. The expiry of the offer is actually 9pm today (8th June) but the international market closes at 4:30pm so you need to make your purchase before then for it to go through today. Hope you get it sorted

Thank you to knightrider68 and sarah 28 for all your help.

I logged into my share dealing account this morning and still no sign of the £100 anyway it wasnt taken from my other account so not worried but the £50 i did transfer yesterday was there, As you said when i went to buy the shares the commission bit came up as 0.00 so all was sorted i purchesed my 5 shares for £36.82 and all the confirmation came through
I sat here now with my contract note in hand, i just need to do the sharholder club now
