No checked bags, can I skip baggage claim at MCO?

As has already been pointed out, if you use the escalator, you are only adding a few seconds to your journey. On the 2nd floor, the escalator down to the 1st floor is immediately in front of you. When you do reach the 1st floor- the Magical Express level- you may have a bit of a walk as the Magical Express check-in point is on the far end of the floor.

It really is easy especially if you do not have bags. Just follow the signs. We fly Delta from Detroit. Never an issue. (PS. You mention only having carry-ons. We have stayed multiple times at Contemporary and Grand Floridian and I stayed at Pop. All have excellent laundry facilities. We pack for half a trip and do laundry. We put laundry pods inside baggies and stick in our running shoes for use so we do not have to buy expensive laundry detergent. A couple cocktails sitting by the pool while you are doing laundry and you have a "Disney experience. LOL)

My first time trying to find Magical Express was an adventure. There’s a reason they keep the signs so small for where it is. Has to do with some local politics involving cabs or something along those lines, once you get the hang of it, it’s easy, basically down escalator then to elevators.
