Any chance Pirates will be open at all this coming week? If anyone is surprised to find it open early this week will you please post? Thanks! :)

I have heard rumors that they're doing soft openings, though. If they do, generally it's at random times, and not when they're super busy.

I hope you have a great time! :tink:

These rumors are false. My DH, a CM who is working on the POC premier, says no soft opening for the general public, no way, no how. Some CMs are being allowed to test ride during non-park hours, I believe, but it's not happening for guests.

Edited to say that they have done soft openings at WDW, but not at Disneyland as that is where, as WatchinCaptKangaroo said, the celebs and other dignitaries are going to get to ride it at the premier before they let the public on.

P.S. I was bummed about no soft opening myself, as I would like to ride it before the mad crush that's going to happen in the coming weeks!

I'm pretty sure that it won't be opening prior to the 26th because it would make the traffic pattern in the NOS area even worse than it is with the bleachers up. They are cutting off all flow into NOS except for the bridge that goes over the entrance to the POTC queue. Opening POTC would only add to the amount of people in the area, thus likely creating a major log jam.

Is it going to be open to the public (non-celeb) on Moday the 26th? I have to ride it pirate:

Here is what the mouseplanet update said about soft openings...

On Sunday, June 25, the ride will probably unofficially open in the afternoon. Disneyland has invited its own group of press (the publicity for the movie premiere is being run by the studio, with support from the park) to visit the park that day for a period of exclusive access to the attraction in the morning, but they have been warned that they must ride by 11:30 a.m. for that exclusivity. Presumably this means that if all goes well the doors will be thrown open to everybody sometime in the afternoon. However, there are certainly a lot of variables that could interfere with this and the ride does not officially open until Monday, June 26.

Thanks for all the replies! My daughter will be down there this week and was hoping to ride. Ayway, I hope the first riders post as soon as possible and tell us all about it!! :thumbsup2

We fly out on the 25th, I believe we are going to hit DCA after we check in, and then DL on the 26th and 27th. I'll try and remember to post how awesome the new POTC is :)

I also plan to be there on the 26th. My treat to myself as I'm going to be missing the premiere stuff on the 24th. Plus I can't wait to ride it.

Strange, DL Dashboard says it's not closed but the website says it is. I'm going there in a few hours, I'll be sure to let everyone know what I see. :)

ETA: Dashboard is the one that says it's not open.

As far as I know, this ride is still closed here at WDW. Usually the resort does soft openings, but I have not heard of any on this as of yet - nor does the portal indicate that any are being done.

Definetely no soft openings for guests, but I know some cast members will be riding it later today (confirmed by one of my cm friends).

What a nice CM perk! :thumbsup2

Maybe helps make up for the (reportedly) low pay, uncomfortable costumes and rude guests they must have to put up with. Customer service jobs are not for the faint of heart, that's for sure, and to do it well and with a smile, hats off to you!

I can't wait to meet some of these fabulous CMs on our trip! :sunny:

Yeah, I definitely cannot say I know this first hand (I've never even been to WDW yet!) However, I did read a couple of posts to the WDW Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board that stated the posters had unexpectedly been allowed on the ride at WDW and this was at least a couple of weeks ago. So, I got my info second hand and can't verify what I've read at all. I do know that no one in the general public has been or will be allowed on POC at Disneyland until after the whole premier shindig on Saturday night. My CM DH can't wait for it all to be over with. They're working his butt off between that and Grad Nights. :rolleyes2

We are geting ready to go back to the parks right now. Blue Bayou is having soft openings! We ate there today. We were checking out the menu at the new orleans cafe and I looked across the way and saw people standing in front of an open door at the podium at BB, walked over and ask what the wait time was. She said 5 mins. and it was a soft opening. While eating we saw 2 boats go by, I got all excited for about 1/2 a sceond then saw the TV cameras. so only press riding today, but the BB was very cool! although over priced but the food was really good. Also, they let us keep the menus that are all themed for the PoC grand opening and such as souveniers.

Got to get back to the parks now. Our last night :guilty:

Awe, you lucky ducks!! :Pinkbounc That is so cool getting to keep the menu! How did the BB look? Did they change anything in the beginning there, like the lighting or anything? Still can not wait to see the upgrades!

Have a fun last night!! :)

Don't really know if there were any changes to the BB this is our first DLR trip. It was pretty dark, with candles on the tables. The ride part looked like the bayou with a couple of little shacks, some fireflies, and a big white moon off in the corner with dark blue/purple sky.

Pirates is open and apparently the line is really long! Those of you who get a chance to ride it during the "soft opening" today let us know how it is!
