So I just booked the tour  but I was surprised b/c they said we couldn't bring any cameras. I'm disappointed b/c I wanted to take pix of main street when it wasn't busy - I deliberately picked the earliest tour so I could have "people free" pix of the castle. Is this a new rule or has it always been like that?

It has always been like that. Having said that it doesn't mean you can't bring your camera...you just can't take pictures while on the tour. Before we checked in at the tour gardens (to the left of city hall) we took pictures on Main Street and of the castle then we went and checked in. We did the 9:00 tour on a Saturday. You may have some people in your pics becuase people will be heading towards the castle for Cindy's reservations and to CP.

It's like that on the Backstage Safari tour too.

We went on the Keys to the Kingdom Tour in March of this year. It was absolutely amazing! :Pinkbounc The reason you are not allowed to take pictures during the tour is because more than half of it takes place "backstage," or behind-the-scenes. Before or after you check-in, you can take a nice picture of Main Street. Once the tour begins, though, you are going to be moving a lot and it would slow the group down if you wanted to take pictures. And, like I said, the majority of the tour is backstage so you would not be permitted to take any when in these areas.

Still, you are going to have such a wonderful time. Make sure you plan to go back to your resort after the tour for a relaxing break. Enjoy! :sunny:

Does taking the KTTK tour ruin the magic of the MK? We hesitate to take this tour because we don't want to know about the mechanical side of things at the MK.

At the AK it didn't bother me at all to know what goes on backstage. And when we took the Segway tour we got to go sort of backstage at the WS. But the MK has a sort of special magic for me. I don't want that ruined.

Although on the other hand, maybe taking this tour would be more magic for me. I dunno. :confused3

That all depends on who is going and how you look at it. My boyfriend was concerned I would not enjoying hearing certain things while down in Utilidors, but I was fine.

No young children or teens can go on this tour which is a great idea. I do not feel it ruined the magic for us at all. My boyfriend, in fact, has become an enormous Disney nut as a result of this tour!

It was just the opposite for my wife and I. MK was not one of our favorites, UNTIL we took the KTTK tour. The history and thought that went into the workings of the park really helped us to apperciate the "Magic" of the MK.
I don't think it will ruin the experience for you.

Mom and I thought it added to the magic! Our tour was more about the history of the park and the way things were designed(ie. no bathrooms in Liberty Square becaue during that time period people would just throw their "waste" out on to the street (notice there are no curbs in Liberty Square). There were some parts that talked about the "mechanical" side of the MK, but not many(This was mostly the Utliadoors area and it was very fascinating).

We did this tour last year and really loved it, our guide was Frank and he did such a nice job.

While we new you could not take pictures, we did get to take some at the end of our group and of us with our Guide Frank.

My husband thought it might be too long of a tour but had a good time and really enjoyed seeing things behind the magic. Stopping for lunch was a nice break too.

I have my Keys to the Kingdom Pin on my favorite jacket and have had several people ask where did I buy it, well it is only available if you go on the tour, its great, a pretty nice sized gold key.

I'm booking this tour! Thanks guys!

Now, all I gotta do it book a trip....

I will echo everyone here. I have taken the Keys tour a couple of times and the Backstage Safari tour and we were allowed to take pictures in the parks but not in the backstage areas. I thought it was cool to see all of the backstage things and it did not ruin the magic for me. It was nice to see how Disney does what it does.

Just a clarification - young teens can't do the tour - but those 16 and old can.

Isn't it great to find a reason to book another trip? ;) :rotfl:

We did the tour last year and they didn't tell us we couldn't take pictures anywhere but in the back stage area.

We LOVED it and it didn't ruin the magic for us at all.
