What gives? I was there just this past week, and noticed and ABUNDANCE of boat skippers on the boat - 3 or even FOUR on each boat... I was thinking they were going to be adding more boats to the mix...Not stopping them all together? Does anyone know why?

The Yacht/Beach Club dock is closed (temporarily for refurbishment) and I believe that is all - everything else on Crescent Lake is business as usual from what I have read.

I believe they are doing some refurbs on the boat docks. I know they put a notice out that the launches wouldnt be running for a couple weeks in March.

That's different than what I read here in the last few days, I will have to go check out what some of the refurb sources say.

Edited: I just did some more research on 3-4 other sites, and most include a clarification that the Swan/Dolphin and Boardwalk docks will still be open and boats running to them.

Not to be argumentative, but I believe you are incorrect. wdwinfo.com is not infallible, you know and I have checked many other sources and most contain a statement on the refurb, but with clarifying information or questions that end up stating the other docks are still open and running.

I guess we'll have to wait for confirmation from one of the boat captains or someone staying at the Epcot resorts to know for sure.

This is what is listed at the link you posted.....

Disney's Yacht Club Resort Pool slide closed 1/3/11- 2/10/11 The pool slide and kiddie slide will be closed to guests for refurbishment. During this time, Guests may continue to enjoy the Stormalong Bay feature pool, or may enjoy the feature pool and slide at Disney's BoardWalk Inn and Villas.
Friendship Boats to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and resorts in that area will not be available 2/21/2011- mid March. Disney is providing bus transportation to Disney's Hollywood Studios from the resort bus stop.

I read it as there are no boats from YC/BC at this time..... I won't be there for another 2.5 weeks, so I have no first hand knowledge... at least not yet...

Only the Yacht & Beach Club dock will be closed.

Bus service will be provided between Y&BC and DHS only. The bus will load at load zone #3 at DHS.

If the other docks were to be closed, bus service would be provided from the other EC resorts, but it is not.

It is ONLY the YC/BC dock that is closed. This has been confirmed many times on The DIS and on other sources. I myself called S/D because I have 2 upcoming stays there in the next 4 weeks. They assured me there is no interruption in Friendship Boat service at S/D or BW. It's business as usual for those docks.

I've always had 2-3 skippers per boat when using them, maybe it's a safety thing. Or maybe since the YC/BC dock is closed, they have less boats running & too many employees that still need hours, so they double them up.

Don't forget guests staying at the Yacht Club & Beach Club can also walk from those resorts to the International Gateway entrance at Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
