I just called DCL castaway club and explained that I told the rep when I booked our second cruise that we had sailed before. This rep said that the castaway club # is actually the client ID# from the second cruise. She said we would not receive the plastic Castaway Club card until we returned home from our 2nd cruise. I asked about the beach towel and she said it would be in our stateroom on the second cruise.
Does something sound funny here or does this sound correct?
The usual process is that sometime soon after your first cruise, you should get the plastic membership card and some membership info, like glossy brochures, etc.
They have had problems in the past with getting the cards and info out in a timely manner, and it was 'being resolved'.
It is doubtful that you will receive the Castaway Club onboard benefits unless you mention your ID number to DCL and or your TA. We didn't mention it for our second cruise and we didn't get the 'return cruiser gift' and we didn't get the reception invitation either. We did receive a second membership card and info a few weeks later. I called the Castway Club phone number and explained it to them and they added the info from the second cruise to the membership number from the first cruise so I just have one number now.
On all subsequent cruise reservations, I always mention the Castaway Club ID number and we have always received the 'gift' and the invitation to the reception.
The onboard credit offer for return cruisers has been discontinued, unless you book a future cruise while onboard a current cruise.
I would expect the card to arrive within a few weeks of the first cruise and not after the second cruise was completed. In reality though, the plastic card isn't that important, it's the ID number that is important. I have never been asked to show the card to anyone for any reason, just to produce the id number itself.
hope that helps
