No availability around Christmas

Hi all, I've been checking quite regularly for our potential dates (dec 30 - jan 5) and there have been a few resorts available (number of deluxe, AoA, Caribbean beach and Pop). However, when I checked yesterday, there has literally only been 1 - 2 possibilities (ex: today I checked and I only saw Old Key West and Saratoga. (way out of our price range)

I just find it strange that all of a sudden the resorts are booked. I know it is that dec 30 date, since if I change our arrival date to the 31st there's more availability. I have a feeling we probably won't go on this trip, hence why we've been holding off booking (since we are from Canada, and the potential mixed vaccine thing may pose a problem in the coming months).

Anyways, out of curiosity, wondering if anyone has an explanation for this? I have a hard time believing they've been fully booked but I guess they have...

edit: checked theme park availability, and they have no availability at DHS or jan 3,4,5. Kind of obscure dates - I would expect this during Christmas...

Christmas is of course one of the busiest times of the year. I’d guess that things are starting to improve now in Florida Covid wise, so people who were holding off on booking are now more comfortable doing so. You can always book a package now and cancel later if you decide not to go, which will be easier than waiting to book something last minute.

I went on the website a couple a days ago and it said that no rooms were available 11/1-11/5 which I found odd. I refreshed the website a couple of times and the hotels popped back in. However, the holidays are extremely busy at Disney.

Also, try searching on an incognito browser. Sometimes that helps. But--keep trying. Things appear and disappear.

Many schools take the week after NY’s off too. I’m sure many people prefer to be home for Christmas & vacation after that. And like you, figure that will be the better time to be there, leading to bigger crowds. Also, remember Disney is now using algorithms to fill hotels to their advantage. They sometimes limit how many days you can book, or even what day you can check in. They can limit how many people are checking in or out on a specific day so housekeeping isn’t overwhelmed, for example. If you can, try altering your dates a bit & you may find more availability.
