I Called Tonight For A Last Minute Trip This Weekend
I Said I Knew It Was Last Minute But Was Looking For Any Ap Discounts For This Weekend
I Was Told There Are No Ap Discounts Less Than 60 Days
I Really Didnt Think I Could Get A Discount On This Short Notice
Being It Is A Weekend And A Holiday
But No More Ap Discounts After 60 Days No Matter What Time - Wow !
I Ended Up Booking All Star Sports - $99 Per Night
I Was Lucky To Get A Room
It Was The Only One Available In All Of Wdw
I Even Called Earlier And Got The Same Response
It Should Be Packed !!
I Cant Wait-my 1st Time At The Food And Wine Festival

Nope--the BRP is the only discount for AP holders for now. Ressies must be made 60 days (or more) out---used to be 120!!

Yep - Best Rate is the only way to go. So much for last minute trips. I for one am very upset about this. So, guess what I did....I booked the Dolphin at an AP rate of $169.50. Disney just won't be getting as much of our money as they have in the past. And believe me, we've been going 2-3 times a year staying at Deluxe resorts. However, we can't always plan that far in advance so when we can't, which is often, we'll have to either stay at a moderate, the Swan/Dolphin, or God forbid off-site. Or just go someplace else. I just can't see paying rack rate for a deluxe. I think Disney is doing a dis-service to their AP holders. And I know some people have no problem with it because they can book way in advance. But some of us have unique career situations and can't. I wouldn't mind it as much if there wasn't a non-refundable deposit added to the mix. Add insult to injury why don't you????????

Okay - I had a little vent there about Best Rate. I'm done.

do you suppose that somehow this is an effort on Disney's part to make more money on the last minute travelers by enticing NONpassholders (people who would actually have to book a room AND buy park tickets?) It doesn't make sense to me, since the 2 -3 day tickets are so expensive, but I just can't figure out why they would not allow APholders to book at any time, even last-minute. Isn't filling a room at a BR better than keeping it empty?

Apparently Disney doesn't think so. As far as booking, you can book anytime, but forget those great AP last minute rates. It's rake rate. I guess Disney feels one family at rake rate is better then 2 families with a AP rate.

I just looked at what Best Rates were available for a mid-Dec. trip, which is over the 60 day mark, and I was shocked at the high prices. Is this what AP holders are expected to pay now= AKL-over $400/night, and Poly= $346/night??

Sucks, doesn't it? Now that I've found out I can get off work for an early Dec trip, it's too late to book with Best Rate, so no trip for me! I've e-mailed Disney with my concerns about the new program, but I'm yet to hear anything back.

I wrote them too - they did call me back but this was when BR first came out. They basically said it was just an option and I would always be able to book an AP rate the old way by calling in. First lie. Anyway, I won't go into it any deeper. The conversation was useless. And ridiculous. And the CM was quite the smarty pants. Anyway, please keep trying to voice your concerns. Maybe if enough of us complain, something will change. At least they have moved the window from 120 days out to 60. So far it's never done me any good, each time I try to book I get rack rate. That's why I'm staying at the Dolphin!!

I sure will miss the last minute trips.

Not sure of the dates or view you looked at, but we are staying 12/25-1/1 at the Poly (garden view) and we're paying about $260/night with the Best Rate, and that includes taxes. Not a bad rate for Holiday season!

Here is what I did : went to Disneyworld.com, signed in under the passholders link, went to the Special Offers link, then the Best Rate link, Book Now, then filled out info. on ages and nights wanted, picked out the Poly as the desired resort, then got this rate = $2207 for 6 nights which = $367 per night.
If there is another way to do it and get a better quote, please let me know. :badpc:

Hi, me again,
I did end up finding your rate of $260 per night by clicking off the lagoon view it automatically gave first the rate of.
However, last Christmas we got an excellent AP rate at the Wilderness lodge for $121 per night w/o tax. I have the reservation form still. I had to go back and look at it to make sure it was that price. So, from that to a $260 p/night room, doesn't look like a big break for AP holders any more.

No, compared to $121 it's not. But I don't think I've ever seen the Poly for anything like $121 so it's hard to compare those rates. We looked at WL, but I really don't remember what the rate was cause my husband wanted to stay on the monorail this trip so I didn't think much of the rate. It was a lot cheaper than our $260 at the Poly though.

There were many abuses to the previous way of booking AP discounts. This new program eliminates those problems.

Also while some might not like the new program, many do not have a problem with it.

Overall bookings are up, with packages, AAA, and even rack rate at Disney, so unless bookings drop significantly, I don't see the BRP changing.

This is my first time purchasing an AP. I am happy with the AP rate I got for POR just after Thanksgiving. Here is what I don't like about the 60 day limit. Before my 60 days were up, I liked checking the AP site to see if any standard rooms opened up at AKL. There is a chance I would have upgraded to AKL had a standard room opened up. Once the 60 days past, I wasn't even allowed to check my dates to see if, by cancellations, any AP rooms opened up. I guess once they're gone they're gone, but they would have made more money off of my stay if I was able to upgrade from POR to AKL. I am very happy with POR and glad to save the money, but Disney could have made more off of me if I was able to upgrade within my 60 day frame.

You can call them to see if availability opens up at AKL and they will upgrade you. I would check to see if it's available at rack rate first, and if it is and you have the time, just call and ask. If it's important enough , I guess. If it's really not a big thing, then it may not be worth your time..that's up to you to decide, though. :earsboy:
