The new VM confirms that there will not be any pool hopping to AKL when it opens. It leaves open the possibility it will be allowed in the future. The reason given is to allow the animals to adapt to their new home.

There's lots of other interesting info in the VM. Thanks to DVCDudes for letting us know that it's on-line!

Thanks for the info Pam

VM - Vacation Magic. The DVC newsletter. I know, it's Friday!

I suggest sneaking in anyway, and if caught, tell them you are with Disney corporate compliance, and were auditing the security of the pool area, and that you think the person who caught you is doing a great job

lol....great response, I'm writing that one down

not trying to be argumentative...I have already decided that the AKL is not on my list of things to do or see. But just HOW would the animals know that the people at the pool area are not AKL guests and thus have more trouble adapting to their new surroundings just because there happen to be a few dozen DVC members at the pool. I am sure that I am missing something but the whole AKL "keep out" attitude is really kind of weak.

Unless it was done tongue in cheek, advocating sneaking in the AK pool is pretty insipid. Probably comes from the same crowd who is distraught when non members are caught in DVC pools. JMHO

I'm sure it was done "tongue in cheek" Do you really think someone would actually say that? Its nice to see a great sense of humor on these boards every so often JMHO.....

I think the real reason is that with any new resort (anywhere), it takes some time for everything to settle in and start operating smoothly. They are anticipated increased interest in this particular resort and are trying to limit the number of people around when it is first opening. My guess is that they will start relaxing the rules after a couple of months. There is a thread on the resorts board about people cancelling their AKL reservations because they are concerned that it is too isolated from the parks other than AK. They got great discounted rates because they were not filling the rooms very fast and now that AP rates are coming at the other resorts, some are cancelling and moving. A lot of people are leary about booking a resort that they have never seen. So if they want to sell this resort, they are probably going to have to relax the rules some.

BaileyBrad I'm just the messenger. I was just relaying what it says in VM. ;)

I've seen the comment also about people being concerned about how far way AKL is. I'm not sure where it is but it seems that any resort is not far from the parks. Heck, All-Star seemed out in the boonies when they were building it and now it's on top of AK. AKL will be close to....AK!! It will also be a reasonable distance to the other parks. Seems crazy to use that as reason not to stay there. The WWofS seemed to be far away at first and then they built Victory Way. Now, it's just minutes from CBR/Boardwalk/MGM. By the way, does anyone have the location of AKL?

Pam
We went to AK in January and as we approached the park there was a road off to the left which said "trucks only". I assumed it was back in ther somewhere. But I could not see any roofs of bldgs or anything.

I was at WDW last month with some castmember friends. They wanted to go to the new Animal Kingdom Company D (castmember store). To get to it, we had to stay in the "authorized vehicles" left lane instead of the right lane for the AK parking lot. The construction entrance for AKL was a little farther down the road from the AK parking entrance, I assume this will be the entrance when it opens. The gates were covered over, so we couldn't see in. You could see some of the thatched roofs from the road. You could also see them driving out of the AK parking lot.
