I've seen a few threads about Cinderella's Royal Table on the family board, and thought that I'd share this magical moment (even though it's not really related to the other threads
)
My family's been down to Disney and have never once planned our meals. Because we used to stay offsite, we rarely (if ever) ate on property. My dad always said it was too expensive.
I remember this one day very clearly (January of either '02 or '04). We were supposed to be going to Tom Sawyer's Island to eat our sandwiches, but my dad insisted we go through Cinderella's castle. We were all confused, as it was not the fastest route (and my dad is all about time efficiency).
To our surprise, we ended up having lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table! Apparently, when we arrived at the park, he'd gone and asked if they're were any openings. Someone had cancelled, and so we took their spot.
Now, if you can make reservations, I would strongly suggest doing it, especially at peak season. I just thought I'd share this story for those of you who leave next weekend, but didn't get a chance to make any ADRs.
There may not be any openings (so don't plan on it), but the worst that can happen is that you'll get turned away. There's always a chance that some pixie dust will be floating your way at the right time.
