Are you staying at the Poly? If so, you can order O'hana's food for your room, I believe.

I wouldn't count on getting in as a stand by, we couldn't even get our time moved up by a half hour. It is a very busy restaurant. You can try, though, but I would have a back up plan.

If you really want to go you can try to get a reservation the day before you want to go. People will cancel their reservation 24 hours before their time to avoid the $10/person cancellation fee.

This is our favorite restaurant and I couldn't even get it at 180 days out for our upcoming September vacay. We've had a very good success rate of calling the day before to get a reservation.

We've been trying for nearly a month to get something for our end of Nov trip with no success. While I plan to keep checking here and there (while also running the touring plans res finder), I think that your thinking is the way we're going to go with it. We plan to call the day before each day of our trip to see if there's a chance we can luck into a reservation there.

Start looking about a week before you arrive. I've seen lots of ADRs show up close to the date of travel due to the cancellation policy.

Yep keep looking right up until that evening! People over-reserve ADR's and cancel as they go.
