Hi all,

Thinking next May of driving from NJ, stopping in Hilton Head, SC (not Disney DVC as I am sure that will not be available) for a night or 2 and then going the rest of the way to Disney. Has anyone ever done this or gone to Hilton Head, SC from NJ or up north. Strategies, routes, etc. would be helpful. Any nice hotels there that others have stayed at?

Thx - Tom

Have you ever been to Hilton Head?

If you can afford it, I'd try to get a villa inside Sea Pines. Beautiful, gated community which occupies a good portion of the island. Unless you are staying there, you have to pay to enter the grounds. Which includes Harbour Town, where are are a number of shops and restaurants, as well as the Harbour Town Lighthouse.

No real strategies since there's really only one way to HHI. There are a number of hotels but most of the island is condos and airbnb/vrbos. You can do sea pines and Harbour Town, which is really cute but there are other options if you don't want to stay there. South Beach marina has shopping/food and is also in sea pines. I went to HHI quite a bit as a kid, it's nice and imo much better than a myrtle. It's commercialized but no where near the level that MB has been.

Avoid Washington DC traffic during the weekday daylight hours. Sunday morning isn’t too bad.

No, I have never been to Hilton Head. Guessing Sea Pines is pretty pricey?

Probably would leave on a Saturday morning. I really want to avoid DC traffic but just not familiar with another route.

The only other route would be to drive down the Delmarva Peninsula. But I don't think that would save you any time on a weekend .The earlier you leave in the AM would be better.
