NJ Shores?

We vacation at Seaside park a couple times each summer. Seaside Park is where you wuld want to rent....it has very nice quiet beaches...very family oriented...Where we stay it is only a few blocks to the boardwalk so we walk there nightly. We take one night to go pt' pleasant! We love eating at the shripbox for their early bird special...great with kids, decent food. Then we head to their board walk for rides and a nice stroll. If it rains or we want a change of scenery we go to back to pt pleasant to Jenkinsons aquarium. Also We love the water park in seaside heights...very clean and family friendly...can get crowded. My little ones are 2 ans 5 and they alsways have a great beach vacation! I can't say enough good things about seaside park...which is the next beach adjacent to seaside heights.

Good luck!!!!

I am partial to the Point Pleasant Area. I usually like to stay in one of the surrounding towns like Normady Beach or Manteloken so I can drive to the boards but have a more private beach experience. LBI is also terrific (we're on our way there tomrrow actually!)

I'm from Pt. Pleasant area and it is a great family beach area. But I like visiting Cape May better. The beaches are bigger and free and we always see dolphins in the ocean. It is a really nice little town and they have good shopping and restaurants. Cape may is relaxing and Pt. Pleasant is more hectic. Now I have to say Pt. Pleasant has a really nice boardwalk with rides and games and it has a few nice nightclubs for the adults.

Thanks a bunch for all this wonderful information :thumbsup2

We'd like to plan for late July or late August, for a family of five, two little ones, one teen and two adults. We've narrowed it down to Point Pleasant, LBI or Cape May. Any suggestions on hotels for those areas?

Thanks again for all your help ;)

Another plug for LBI. We spent a week there up near Barnegat Light for a mini-family reunion. I don't have any information on hotels. We rented a 3 bedroom home. Perhaps that would work for you. LBI is very narrow so pretty much everything is walking distance to a beach.

LBI is my back yard. Not sure I would stay in any of the little dive hotels that are here, but that is just me. You can check out the local accomodations on the towns website www.longbeachisland.com and there is a listing of what is available. Maybe I am biased, but I would pick Pt. Pleasant or Cape May over LBI any day. Strange to say since I live here, but I'm being honest. If your not set on staying right on the beach, there is a brand new Holiday Inn that went up in the past year on Route 72 in Manahawkin which is just over the bridge from LBI. I was born in Point Pleasant, still think it is a great family atmosphere. Cape May I think wins in my mind because there is more to do than just the regular boardwalk and beach stuff and you can make your vacation as lazy or as action packed as you want.

As a Jersey Shore native, with my small children, I go to Point Pleasant. Seaside is really better suited to an older crowd. Cape May is nice, but with the small kids, the rides and boardwalk attractions are a plus.

My vote is for Point Pleasant a friend of mine likes (thecrystalpointinn.com). Very cute boardwalk, rides for the little ones only, very family oriented clean beach, aquarium and a much shorter ride than cape may. Linda

I'm going to LBI Monday:cool1: and am staying in Surf City and I can let you know how the hotel is when I get back. I'm staying at the Surf City hotel, its not too expensive, 5 houses from the beach, provides beach passes and was recommended by friends down there. To be honest, we're a little on the hotel snob side regarding cleanliness and newness but I'm hoping for the best:goodvibes

I'm glad I'm not the only hotel snob, but I know I'm spoiled-or at least that is what DH tells me. :rotfl: No experience with our local motels/hotels here in LBI, but a lot of them are looking in need of serious repairs (or to just be knocked down), although they could be the Taj Mahal inside, who knows. Hope you have a great time here during your visit.

Thanks again ;) We've narrowed it to Point Pleasant and Cape May, I think we'll try Point Pleasant first and then Cape May. Cape May is much further out for us..........long road trip :sad2: , hotel a definate. I've become a hotel snob :snooty: as well, so thanks for the honest hotel information :thumbsup2
Thanks again :flower3:
