Hi All.
I am looking to get a new cel phone carrier and am thinking about Voicestream. I have had it with AT&T wireless, and need to get a new phone. So if any of you are in the northern NJ area I'd like to hear your feedback. If you use Voicestream, have you had any problems with getting hit with roaming or long distance where there isnt coverage via voicestreams network? I travel frequently in the North East and in Florida, so Im looking for a plan with no roaming, or long distance charges. I have ruled out Sprint PCS, since the information I have gathered on them shows there phones do not support text messaging.

Thanks
Stacey

I have Verizon and haven't had any problems with them. Can't comment on Voicestream.

I have Verizon too...and love it. Have a great plan with lots of minutes 1200 weekday and 2000 weekend minutes per month. Only trouble I had is that when I went to Michigan the area I called from was not covered and I incurred quite a charge...but there is very few places that are not covered...I just lucked out there.

I love the service too

My friend is a Voicestream customer service rep - I believe she's told me that NJ's service isn't very good...will check with her.

I have Verizon, and it's been fine for me - no roaming when I went to WDW! Woohoo! :)

I have AT&T Wireless and am switching over to Verizon.

There service is much better from the people I have surveyed in Northern NJ. Voice Stream is horrible.

Good luck.

Verizons here as well. Free long distance and 3500 minutes a month.I think it only costs 39.99.
The best thing about Verizons is if they come out with a better plan, you can change your existing plan for no charge.

I have Verizon also. did use one phone in the hoteels or parks, I kept in touch with my family and friends from my plan. it is call America plan, 400 peak minutes and 4000 off peak minutes and weekends. I didnt even get close to my minutes with all the calls I made in Florida, Even got good reception on the plane, that is right, we had a 2 hr delay cause they closed the airport, we were allowd to use them when ready to take off we had to shut all electric devices OFF. I must of sat on the phone for an hr and a half sitting on the plane hahahhahaahh:D

Well It looks like I may have to eliminate Verizon. Allthough I really liked their rate plans for minutes and long distance/roaming, and you all have said good things about them. I really dont like the pricing structure on text messaging, and I am being told they are not offering any free phones to subscribe (and havent gotten an answer if they can activate my "old" phone). So it looks like the additional expenses are making them not as appealing to me.
