Anyone else have a child who is just not that interested in this? Ds got this for Christmas, and I have to constantly remind him to feed and water and blah blah blah this fake dog.
Our dog doesn't know any tricks (except sit) and so we can't make anymore money to buy him food (we still have a few hundred dollars).
Do these 'dogs' die from neglect? I am tired of nagging. If I wanted to do that, I'd have gotten a real dog.

DD12 got one for Christmas, and DD9 got one for her birthday yesterday. They are both sitting on the couch now saying "Sit" and their dogs' names over and over. I keep thinking they are talking to me but they're talking to their games.

So far they haven't asked me to feed or water them! I'm not sure if they die of neglect or not.

My sister got one of these for Christmas. I must say, I play with it almost as much as she does. I don't know why it's so amusing to me, but I love it haha.

My kids just got it and this is the 1st time they are kind of obsessed with something. They are ususally pretty good about not playing things too much but not this. They LOVE it!!!! I was little shocked that they liked it so much too, especially since DD is almost 12. (DS is 81/2).

Well it sounds as if the game is not your son's cup o' tea. I know I hate it. I have 2 10 month old puppies IRL. That is enough.

My 9yodd has all 3 games. She loves it.

If I hear my DD say, Paco sit to her nintendog one more time you will have to commit me! She's driving my nuts!

They have to go to the store and purchase water and food and soap and all that junk.
OK, so no one else is having this problem?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I keep thinking they are talking to me. The other day my Dh and I kept saying silly stuff when they were playing and we were in soooo much trouble. We messed up their competition??!! :scared1:

:rotfl2: Me too. My DD12 has three of 'em now, the pug, the beagle and the husky. She has them doing all kinds of tricks, wearing costumes, etc. This has become a major obsesion in our household. at least they're house-broken

My DD12 has Nintendogs... she is playing it right now and loves all her dogs, they do all kinds of tricks and she wins competitions. She loves this thing.

While in the states during Thanksgiving Best Buy has a game called dog trainer, which unlocked all the dogs and the money...I bought it.

And now you have all the tricks and the money you'll ever need? :confused3
And how does the dog no the voice commands?

I don't think they die from neglect. I bought Nintendogs for myself and at first I was in love with my new dog, Summer. However, I am a busy person and kind of lost interest. My kids didn't seem to care that much either. I turned it on a few days ago and Summer was still there. She was hungry, thirsty, and had some fleas but she was fine and good as new after I took care of those issues. I feel like such a bad mommy. I promise I take care of my real dogs better than the Nintendog.

:rotfl2: Yeah, those dogs in real life don't let you get away with not feeding them. Mine will turn into Garbage Dog pretty quick

I'm not sure but I think I read in the instruction book that they will run away for awhile if they aren't taken care of properly. I guess maybe they come back?

I have the Teal DS that came with that game but I don't play it very much. I have 3 kids and 3 dogs to take care of IRL....my "Mothering" quota is pretty much taken up everyday already.

And I'm too busy playing Animal Crossing. :teeth:

I also don't think the dogs die from neglect, but they can run away. We haven't had that happen. I don't think it's something you have to nag at him to keep up with...it's a game. My DD got hers from Christmas and played with it quite often until we bought Mario Bros 3 and that's the new addiction. I'm afraid to get Animal Crossing, I don't get enough done the way it is. :teeth:

My DD has 4 dogs currently, and it really isn't that hard to take them on a walk and practice agility or fetch with the disc. Then they can enter a competition and win more cash. Maybe he's lost interest in just trying to train him and doing this will make him more interested in it. After initially training the first one it's name and sit, I think the trainig comes a little easier too.

DD (10) got this for her birthday. She and her friends are all obsessed with it.

I keep thinking they are talking to me. The other day my Dh and I kept saying silly stuff when they were playing and we were in soooo much trouble. We messed up their competition??!!

I thought this was so funny because it keeps happening at our house too. Our real dogs think that DD is calling them. She will whistle and say "come here" to the game and the real dogs come running! :dog: :dog2:

:3dglasses

I take care of two dogs for someone who works during the week, both my dh and myself didn't have dogs growing up but I have learned to love the dogs I watch, during the afternoon my dd walks them and I pay her as well.
She's now 12. She has wanted a dog for 4 years since we have watched the neighbors dogs, I ll continue to say no.
They are like kids, and too much work. They are beautiful, wonderful, smart and great company, but since our kids are getting older now I don't want any more responsibilites on me. We have a mouse I have to remind her to clean out/feed. That wore off quickly!

So we bought her that system for Christmas, she brought it everywhere (even the bathroom) for two weeks, out to dinner, as well. Talking to it and giving it commands, I thought I was going to give some commands myself-
my dh starting playing it now on and off, to me it's mindless and I have limited her usage of it. It was becoming too consuming!!LOL! :badpc:
(ie homework) and she is a great student, just proves those things need to be limited.

Although I bought it, if I had my choice I'd :badpc: for sure!!!
LOL!

:rolleyes1 who me did I to that?!!!LOL! :Pinkbounc

no, seriously she's limited to it now and it's so much better for all of us..... :hippie:
