Does anyone have any "inside" info on this console other than what is on the Nintendo website?

DS (15) has the Gamecube and the PS2 (which he prefers now) and is pretty sure he wants the xbox 360 for Christmas. I was just wondering if this was worth waiting and looking into before I buy the xbox. The guys at Gamestop do not know an awful lot about it which is unusual. No presales yet either. Thanks! :)

I'm not sure what kinda of inside information you want. My DS 13 is saving up for the Wii now. The only thing I keep hearing from him is it's coming out in November.

We have Xbox 360, PS2 and Gamecube. While my oldest playes the Xbox more, my 13 year old is a die hard Nintendo fan and can't wait for the new system to come out.

I have to say that Xbox is definitely more for the older kids. If you have specific information, I can ask my youngest and see if he knows :)

Good Luck,
Deb

DS11 and I were at the Nintendo store last week in NYC and saw the extended commercial there. If it works the way it did in that commercial - it looks really cool. The graphics are not supposed to be anything near the xbox but, it would seem to me that for the Wii, it's less about the graphics -and more about the games and functionality of the controller. And that Wii Mote - just looks too cool (I know I for one can't wait for the whole family to "play" tennis or watch DS5 "conduct" musice)....and yes, they'll be a lot of potty talk this Christmas because of that name - although I think it's catchy as heck.

It'll be a definate for us. I've been to EBGames a few times and they tell me they'll start taking pre-orders in October.

Thanks guys. DS would probably know everything about it, but I don't want to ask him as I told him "no more systems now". Not ready to start that yet!

I guess I am trying to compare it to the 360. I am fairly sure that is what he will want. He likes sports games, military combat type games, Star Wars and a few others. DH plays occasionally with him or alone.

I did hear "under $250" and "by Thanksgiving" but had not heard about preorders. The Gamestop manager did mention something about downloading old nintendo games onto it too. Knowing DS, he will want BOTH systems! ;) Thought I could learn something before I actually ask him about them.

Yeah - we've definately been there done that. And, I do a Nancy Reagan - and just say "no". LOL

I do the passive aggressive thing and say "You've already got N64 and GameCube, what do you need a new one for?" And, he'll tell me what xBox360 does vs. GameCube (it's 90% Star Wars related!!!) and then I'll say and how does that compare against the Wii (whose price is VERY attractive compared to the 360)....and he'll fill me in on that - then the conversation goes on from there. With me ending it with "Huh. They do all that? Too bad you're not getting it"...

Every time DS gets his Electronics Gaming magazine, there's always an article in there on the systems....I sit down and read it when he's not looking. He's also told me a ton about both but I'm so Wii'd out - I'm on info overload and have shut down on it and have forgotten more that I've learned. Besides, I've pretty much already made up my mind that we'll go with the Wii. On some level, I'm sure that he knows that too. Tough age to buy Christmas gifts for. I get him the Wii, and everyone else has their "What do I give him?" for Christmas and his birthday (2 days later) dilemna solved....he'll need games!

My nephew has the 360 and he's very into the military combat games - for him, he wouldn't even consider the Wii or anything Nintendo for that reason. The graphics just aren't there.

hmmm....Maybe you *should* buy both?

:rolleyes1

;)

Go to IGN.com and click on the Wii section of the site. There is a motion bar that sits on your tv, and if you were playing a First Person Shooter, you would aim at the screen like you were shooting a gun. In tennis, you would swing the remote like a racket. So far I have heard nothing but good news about the Wii.

:crazy2: NO! :teeth:

Did I mention DH has the old Super Nintendo, and both DS and DD have the Nintendo DS in addition to the Gamecube and PS2?? We have games coming OUT of our ears! DD prefers the Nintendo DS by the way.

I will probably just sit on this a bit and see if he says anything. Maybe I will "accidentally" have an article about the Wii up online when he is around and see what he says. I am certain he will start speaking specifics about it if given the opportunity. I feel sure he wants the 360, though I prefer the Wii price!
