It was added to Santa lists here after they played with a friend yesterday that had one.
they had so much fun doing the pictures etc now my kids want one of these
i looked at walmart last night, and they are 169
seems like an expensive gadget for a kid LOL

should santa get it??? that is the big question.

Considering I have TWO children who have now lost their DS Lites, we will NOT be getting one of these any time soon!!!!!!

You might find a bundle, but the only time I've seen this discounted was months ago, $149 at Dell.com. Nintendo tends not to discount products unless they are being replaced (wonder if a new Wii is coming?). My twins got their first ds when they were 5 last year.

You are simply not going to find it for less. As a PP said the only time it has been discounted was once at dell for $20 less. It is the hot elctronic for the tween set this christmas. It will likely come down in price in another year or so, but definitely not now. They are selling too many.

I just bought my dd7 a refurbished DS from gamestop for $59. I paid an extra $10 for a one year warranty. My kid doesn't know the difference between a DS, DS Lite or DSi, and since all of the games work in all of the models, it seemed to make sense to spend less.

AS PP have mentioned. You are not going to get it for less this year. it just came out last April and this is it's first Christmas. I bet it will be 3-5 years before there is any sort of discount.

Even with the DSi coming out the DS Lites were not priced lower (though there were more deals on them this year). I suspect the DS Lites will come down in price in the next year and then phased out within 2. Then after the DSi has been out and the new system is released will the DSi's be cheaper.

DD got her dslite when she was 5. We have had it 6 years and it is the same price ($129) as when we got it.

Target has them for the usual $169 but they are giving a $10 gift card with purchase. I actually just bought 2 and did 2 seperate transactions so I used the one $10 gc to pay for the second DSi so the second one was only $159. I still have the other $10 gc to use for a future purchase.

The only other idea is if you want to trade in a DS lite to gamestop. They told me they would give me a $40 credit toward a DSi if I traded in a DS lite.

Good luck!

We debated the same thing. My kids are 7 & 9 and we broke down for the DSi and these will be their one & only game systems probably. We have some really old Gameboy Advances & they love those and have handled them well.

It's not any cheaper but Walmart has a bundle online for $189 - system, 2 games & case. It saves a little if you need to games anyway but there aren't many choices right now.

If you go through Bing cashback you can get it for $179 with free shipping and usually no tax (for Christmas delivery I had to pay an extra $2.95 for shipping) and cashback of 20% at Drugstore.com. Just search on Bing.com for Roomba and you will see the bing link. After cashback the price is $143.99. It does take a while for the cashback to hit though, but I have never had any problems.

The DSi handheld is the only gaming system we have in the house and the girls take good care of them. Middle daughter wanted the upgrade to the DSI this summer and took her old DS in and payed the different with her Xmas and Birthday money.

I just took DD8 DS to game stop and 5 old games from sisters and recieved $105 in credit. Payed $70 for new DSi and it will be her main Xmas gift since the limit is $100 per kids. Not sure if you have a trade in but gamestop was giving $70 this summer only got $50 this week but decided to do it now before it went down.

.

thanks for all the suggestions!:thumbsup2
my kids are 6 and 9, so I am glad to see the ages of the other posters kids that have these! I was almost thinking I was insane for considering this for my younger! LOL

I would recommend looking for the bundle Mario version - it is a darker blue color and comes pre-loaded with 5 Mario games. They were selling for the same price as the regular DSI a few weeks ago when my mom bought one for my ds.

Just to throw it out there, Nintendo is suppose to release a new DSi XL within the first 3-4 months of 2010. It's bigger than the regular DSi and has a few other features; they released it in Japan in November.

We were about to get my 8 yr old a DSi, he currently has a DS lite, but when we read that we talked to him and decided to wait. I still may wrap a box with an IOU in it so he knows that he will get it once it's available :)

This week Best Buy is offering a $10 Best Buy gift card with either one of the two DSi bundles ~ the white one with 5 preloaded Brain Age games and the blue one with 5 preloaded Mario games. They are the same price as the ones without any preloaded games, $169 but at least you get some games

Well, Amazon won't charge you tax or shipping. Also look at Walmart's Bundles.
