Santa is getting DS9 a DS for Christmas. So I told a friend of mine to get him a pokemon game but she said there is more than one. I have not had time to look. So here is my question which one should we get? He has the 2 green ones for GBA. And I know you can play the GBA on the DS but, he will want a DS version.

Thanks
Kae

My DS has asked for Pokemon Ranger for DS, it comes out tomorrow. Also, one of his friends has Pokemon Blue Dungeon for DS, my DS said it is "way cool". So I have already bought that game for him for Christmas. My DS has Pokemon Troize for DS but he doesn't play it much.

My kids both asked for the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and Pokemon Ranger for Christmas.

My ds9 is itching to get the DS for Christmas...we'll see. The Mystery Dungeon game allows them to become a Pokemon, and my ds thinks that is the ultimate ability...the red version is for GBA, and the blue is for DS.

We are huge Pokemon fans. We own every Pokemon game put out.

The DS will play both Gameboy Advanced games and DS games.

We have Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. DS says it's really fun. You are a Pokemon, not a human. You are a human trapped in a Pokemon body, that is.
You live in a house, have a Pokemon friend, and can go on missions to rescue Pokemon.
You get mail with missions, you can save your money, buy supplies, etc.
You can get Pokemon to join your team, etc.
You can use the little stick with the DS to play, or you can just use the little controls with your thumb like the GBA version.

We bought Pokemon Ranger last Tuesday when it came out.
That game is a little different. You don't get to keep the Pokemon you capture.
You must use the stick with the DS to put circles around Pokemon a certain number of times in order to capture them, but you can't keep them and name them like the other Pokemon games.

Both games my sons say are fun. My younger son says he likes both games equal. My older son says he likes Pokemon Mystery Dungeon because he likes to give the Pokemon goofy names.

Thanks everyone they both sound great. I think we will try for the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. We got Open season when we bought the DS.

My sons ( 10 & 8 ) say that Mystery Dungeon ( blue box ) is the best. They love playing it so much that we had to buy both boys their own game...sharing wasn't cutting it.

Aloha,

I tried to non-chalantly ask my DD about the Pokemon games when we were looking at the Sunday circulars. I was trying to get a feel for what she wanted for Christmas. She is 11.

She said that the Pokemon Rangers was "stupid". She said, "All you do is circle the Pokemon ..."

So I may get the Mystery Dungeon. That sounds fun.

I'm so glad I saw this thread. DS16 is asking for Pokemon Ranger but it sounds like he'd like Mystery Dungeon better; he just saw it on a commercial so I know he didn't read about what it really does. I can't believe Pokemon are still an in thing :rotfl:

This is OT -- but calie J -- spekaing of things I can't believe are still in -- Baby Alive was the hot toy when I was 7 (too many years ago to mention), it's now what my nieces want, too!

Thank you for this thread.

I don't have a clue about Pokemon and my eldest son loves Pokemon and Yu-gi-ho.

I've read every post and will plan on buying him the Dunegon one.
